    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W310 UltraCompact Camera

    May 24th, 2010
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W310 UltraCompact Camera

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W310 is a compact digital camera from the company’s 2010 line-up. It features 12.1 megapixels, 4x optical zoom lens and a 2.7-inch TFT Clear Photo LCD screen and an array of intelligent functions.

The camera is equipped with a 28mm wide-angle lens (which in fact became quite ordinary thing on modern digicams) for convenient shooting of wide landscapes and cityscapes and large groups of people. However, the lens is not stabilized, so you have to rely on the camera’s SteadyShot™ image stabilization that combat blur caused by camera shake by raising sensitivity level.

The DSC-W310 is designed for those who require a device that would do all photographic job for them. It offers a special Easy mode with Intelligent Scene recognition technology. It detects the scene being shot and selects the optimum setting while you just point at the subject and press the shutter button.

There’re also 8 pre-set scenes in the camera: High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Portrait, Landscape, Beach, Snow, and Gourmet.

The camera features Face Detection function to optimize settings for people’s faces in a frame, and the Smile shutter function to automatically trigger the shutter hust the moment a person you photograph smiles.

    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2100 Simple Digicam

    April 12th, 2010
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2100 Simple Digicam

Sony CyberShot DSC-S2100 is a compact and easy-to-use digital camera announced by Sony this year. Its highlights include 12.1-megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom and 3.0-inch LCD screen. At the same time Sony doesn’t ask much for these specs – the camera is affordable as well.

The letter undoubtedly “S” stands for “simplicity.” The camera is easy to master even for beginner as it offers an array of intelligent functions to simplify the process of taking images. The camera features Easy, Program and iA shooting modes.

Intelligent Auto (iA) mode uses the Scene Recognition technology to detect scenes and lighting conditions, and adjust settings so that you achieve clear images with less blur (though, there’s only digital image stabilization in the camera). It will also handle backlit situations well.

The S2100 uses Face detection technology to identify faces in the frame and optimize camera setting for them. As a result, you will get perfectly exposed people’s shots with everybody in focus. Smile Shutter is another useful function when photographing people. It can trigger the shutter just the moment when it sees a person smile.

The camera has a modest movie mode with video can be captures only at 640 x 480 pixels at a rate of 30 fps.

    Camera Reviews:

    Digitalcamerareview.com:
The camera delivers great images in bright light and quite performance indoors. Though, there’s visible noise at ISO 400 and the camera’s buttons are too small.

    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W350

    April 6th, 2010
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W350

What’s new: The camera has been recently reviewed by Cameralabs!

Sony has announced another point-and-shoot digital camera, the Cyber-shot DSC-W350. Its highlights include 14.1-megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom, and a 2.7-inch LCD Screen. The camera can also shoot HD movies at 1,280 x 720 pixels at a rate of 30 fps.

The lens has moderate telephoto capabilities, but it is compensated by its 26mm angle of view at the wider end, which is handy when it comes to capturing wide scenes or large groups of people. The lens’s performance is also enhanced by the optical image stabilization function that helps eliminate the effects of camera shake.

The W350 is extremely easy to use. There are for iAuto, P (Program Auto) and SCN (Scene) modes at your disposal. In the Intelligent Auto mode the camera will choose the appropriate scene mode for the subject in front of it. SCN option allows you to choose from High Sensitivity, Soft Snap, Landscape, Twilight Portrait, Twilight, Food, Pet, Beach, Snow and Underwater scenes.

The camera features a 9-point autofocus system, as well as Face detection, Smile Shutter and Anti-blink & Blink-detection functions to ensure bright portraits captured in the right moment.

There’s also a Sweep Panorama function in the camera, which helps you to achieve 268-degree panoramic shots. All you have to do is to press the shutter and “sweep” the area in front of you, and the camera will automatically produce a 4,912 x 1,080-pixels wide image.

    Camera Reviews:

    Cameralabs.com:
The camera is housed in a very slim and light body, has 26mm wide coverage and a foolproof Auto with scene detection. But its image quality deteriorates at 200 ISO, and pictures can be soft in corners at wide-angle.
