Sigma has recently announced the launch of its new telephoto zoom lens, the APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM. It comes equipped with optical image stabilizer and will be available in Sony and Pentax mounts.
The lens offers 150cm (59.1”) minimum focusing distance throughout its zoom range and 1:4.2 maximum magnification, so it can be used in close-up photography.
The lens combines 21 elements in 15 groups in its construction and features three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide to correct for chromatic aberration. There’s also super multi-layer lens coating which reduces flare and ghosting. Combined with the lens’s rear focusing system all these things ensure high image quality at all focal lengths.
Image quality is also maintained Sigma’s original OS (Optical Stabilizer) system which extends handheld photography in low-light and makes it possible to use shutter speeds 4 stops slower than it would be possible without OS. You can check for its effect in the viewfinder.
Focusing is driven by the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which provides for quiet and high-speed AF operation. Furthermore, full-time manual focusing capability is possible with the HSM: you don’t have to switch to MF, you can simply override AF by moving the focusing ring.
The lens is compatible with the optional 1.4x EX DG APO teleconverter to turn it into the 168-560mm F6.3-8 MF lens, and with the 2x EX DG APO teleconverter to get the 240-800mm F9-11 MF ultra- lens. This option is available for Sony mount only.

The new Sigma 8-16mm f4-5.6 DC HSM is an ultra wide-angle zoom lens designed specifically for DSLRs with APS-C size sensors on which it shows an equivalent focal length of a 12-24mm.
The lens delivers the 121.2-degreeangle of view, which produces striking images with exaggerated perspective, giving the photographers much room for creativity. It has a minimum focusing distance of 24cm throughout the entire zoom range.
In its construction the 8-16mm f/4-f5.6 combines 15 elements in 11 groups. There are four FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements among its optics which perform like fluorite glass compensating for color aberration, one hybrid aspherical lens and two glass mold elements which successfully correct distortion and astigmatism typical of wide-angle lenses.
The elements also feature Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting. All this ensures high contrast and high definition images at any focal length.
This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) that makes quiet and high speed AF possible while providing for full-time manual focus capability. There’s an inner focusing system in the lens, which allows for convenient usage of filters.
It’s rather a compact lens and comes supplied with petal-type hood to block out extraneous light. The lens weighs ~half a kilo, and its overall length makes 105.7mm while its maximum diameter is 75mm

Sigma announced the new Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM lens. It features fast maximum aperture of f/1.4, which is ideal for portrait and low light photography. Its fixed focal length of 85mm, or 127.5mm on digital cameras with an APS-C size image sensor, ensures a natural perspective.
The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 85cm, a maximum magnification 1:8.6 and round 9 blade diaphragm which creates an attractive blur to the out of focus images.
The 85mm f/1.4 features 11 elements in 8 groups in its optical design. There’s one element made of SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass and one glass mold element to provide for correction for all types of aberrations. Moreover, the lens’s rear focus system minimizes fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing while the Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghost.
The lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) which makes quiet and high speed AF possible as well as allows for full-time manual focus capability. Note that if your camera body doesn’t support HSM, auto focusing will be not possible.
This lens is supplied with a Petal-type hood to block out extraneous light. In comes also with a dedicated hood adapter which expands the length of the hood to block out light more effectively, which especially important when using the lens on digital cameras with an APS-C size image sensor.
