The Sigma SD15 digital SLR camera was announced again after its first mentioning at Photokina Show in 2008. It features the 14 megapixel sensor, “TRUE II” image processing engine, 3-inch LCD screen and 3fps continuous shooting.

The camera’s Foveon X3® SMOS image sensor captures full information of light with a three-dimensional feeling for accurate true-to-life color reproduction while the TRUE II image processing engine improves the processing speed and overall image quality. The SD15 can shoot at 3fps and capture up to 21 RAW Images in a single burst.

There are two motor systems for lowering the vibration of the mirror movement, which prevent camera shake and thus image blur. The system is further enhanced by mirror lock-up mechanism preventing vibration when the shutter is released.

The SD15 offers full manual controls alongside with intuitive user interface. It also has Auto Bracketing function with value set in 1/3EV increments up to ±3EV(3 stops)/±1.7EV(5 stops), ISO range from 50 to 3200, 5 focusing points for the camera’s AF and fours light metering modes.

The camera is equipped with the Backlight top LCD panel for quick check of camera information and the Dust Protector preventing dust from entering the body.

The SD15 features its own built-in flash with guide number 11 and 17mm angle of coverage. It can be synchronized to a shutter speed up to 1/180 sec and incorporates the S-TTL automatic exposure. The camera is also compatible with a wide range of optional accessories from Sigma.

The camera ships with SIGMA Photo Pro 4.0 sotfware for quick RAW file conversion and accurate niose reduction.

Sigma has announced the launch of their new fixed-focal lens digital camera, the Sigma DP2s. it succeeds the DP2 and features the same 14-megapixel resolution, 24.2mm (41mm equivalent) F2.8 lens and RAW support.

The camera’s FOVEON X3® direct image sensor combines 3 layers each measuring 2,652× 1,768 pixels. The senor is also 0.98 inch diagonal in size, which is much larger than that of ordinary compact cameras. This allows better color rendition with rich tonal gradation.

The DP2s incorporates the TRUE II Image Processing Engine and offers its users complete control over camera setting in its Aperture & Shutter Priority and Manual shooting modes, thus opening room for endless creativity.

Moreover, the camera uses a new AF algorithm that makes shooting process convenient providing high speed auto focusing. Manual focusing is also possible with this camera.

The DP2s features a special Power Save Mode that lowers the battery consumption and makes it possible to take a lot of pictures with a single charge of the battery.

The latest RAW image processing software, “SIGMA Photo Pro4.0″, comes with the camera to make RAW processing quick and easy. It uses a new noise reduction algorithm for successful noise removal from RAW images taken at ISO400 or more.

Sigma announced the new DP1x camera which is an updated version of the DP1s. The latter was launched in March 2008, and features a fixed-focal lens alongside with the same large image sensor as Sigma’s digital SLR cameras.

The DP1X digital camera continues this tradition but incorporates the TRUE II image processing engine that provides for faster processing speed and auto focusing and high definition images with richly tonal gradation.

The camera comes equipped with 14 megapixel (2,652×1,768×3 layers) Foveon X3 Direct Image Sensor which measures 20.7mm x 13.8mm for full-color capture. It also supports RAW format which provides pure data for high-resolution images.

The camera’s 28mm equivalent lens with f/4 maximum aperture features aspherical glass for low distortion and high contrast images, and super multi-layer coating to eliminate flare and ghosting.

There’s no viewfinder in the camera, so you’ll have to use its 2.5 inch LCD monitor for both composing and viewing your images.

The DP1x allows for maximum creativity offering Program, Aperture & Shutter Priority and Manual exposure modes. Manual focus is also possible. There’re 7 Color Modes in the camera which adjust saturation, contrast, etc. for each shooting situation.

The camera offers the QS (Quick Set) menu that helps you to easily access the most commonly used functions like ISO Setting, White Balance, Flash and Metering mode (QS1); Image Size, Color Mode, Image Quality and Drive Mode (QS2).

The Dp1x is equipped with its own pop-up flash while featuring a hot shoe for external flashgun usage.

Sigma releases the Sigma DP1s high definition digital camera, packing the full spec of a DSLR into the body of a compact camera. It features a 14 megapixels of resolution.

The DP1s is a slightly upgraded version of its the DP1 large-sensor compact camera which was introduced to market in March 2008.

The camera incorporates the same TRUE Image Processing Engine and the same APS-C sized SMOS image sensor as its predecessor, the FOVEON X 3 direct sensor which can output 4.7-megapixel (2652×1768-pixel) digital phototgraphs without Bayer interpolation.

The lens, a 28mm equivalent f/4 prime, is also unchanged.

Enhancements upon the DP1 include a possibility to allocate the QS (Quick Set) function that provides faster and more convenient operation of the camera and the ability to simultaneously shoot separate RAW and JPEG images.

The DP1s is enhanced further by improved performance when shooting backlit subjects, aiding the cameras characteristics of superb resolution and richly graduated tones with a natural, three-dimensional feel.

There are many dedicated accessories available for the DP1s such as the View Finder VF-11, Hood Adapter HA-11 and Electronic Flash EF-140 DG.

It’s hard to raise much enthusiasm for the Sigma DP1s, especially considering that it’s virtually identical to the original DP1 model. Image quality is thankfully still excellent with almost no noise throughout the ISO range, up to ISO800.

The Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM is a new standard zoom lens for DSLRs with APS-C / DX size sensors. It offers a large aperture of F2.8 at 18mm wide angle, faster than most standard kit lenses, and the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high speed auto-focusing.

This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 30cm (11.8 inches) throughout the entire zoom range and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.1.

The 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 incorporates Sigma’s Optical Stabilisation system, and compensation for camera shake is visible in the view finder, so the photographer can easily check for focus and subject movement. Coupled with the large aperture this function is ideal for indoor photography and in low lighting condition. For Sony and Pentax mount, the built-in OS function can be used even if the camera body is equipped with an anti-shake function.
