Sanyo has announced its new digital product, the Xacti CA100 waterproof dual camera. It claims to be the world’s first water-resistant digicam with Full HD movie capture – you can keep it down to 3 meters underwater for up to 60 minutes and it won’t do it any harm.
The camera incorporated SMOS image sensor and an improved processing engine, which allows for high-speed sequential shooting as well as for fast video processing.
The device shoots videos in 1920×1080 resolution, which is enough to capture all the details of the scene, and saves them into “MPEG-4 AVC / H.264” video format, which allows for convenient handling as they are perceived by your computer as well as the Internet as a single file.
The CA100 has photo capabilities as well: it can take 14-megapixel photos. Moreover, it can take photos in a rapid succession at a speed of up to 7 fps (in 2-Mp mode, though). There’re 2 separate buttons for video and photo capture for easy switching between these two modes.
The camera offers 5x optical zoom for still image capture and a double range zoom for shooting videos. The essence of the latter is the following: there’s a Wide Mode (40 mm to 240 mm) and a Tele Mode (80 mm to 480 mm), for wide scene and for long distance shooting respectively. The combination of these two zoom ranges equals to 12x optical zoom.

SANYO Xacti VPC-CS1 is a new Full HD slim dual camera that can shoot both photos and videos. The camera captures movies in 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution and supports iFrame, a next generation video format.
The CS1 has a 3-megapixel sensor, but it records 8-megapixel still images. It also features 10x advanced zoom and 38mm lens, which is, unfortunately, not as wide as many modern digital cameras can offer.
The camera promises to deliver clear and sharp photos and videos thanks to its Digital Image Stabilizer function. Though, this function is based on boosting sensitivity, so note that it can end up with noisy images.
There’re some handy features in the camera fuch as Face Detection, Target a Color function and Sequential Shooting. It also has a Sound Zoom function that ensures sound is captured well.
The VPC-CS1 supports iFrame, a computer-friendly format for easy import, editing and sharing high quality video. It can be used with both Mac and PC compatible applications due to the use of such technologies such as H.264, AAC, and MP4.
So, the movies are recorded in “MPEG-4 AVC / H.264” movie format which is convenient for use on computers and is fully supported by the latest Windows 7 operating system. Such movies can be played directly with Windows Media Player, and can be easily edited with Windows Live Movie Maker.
The camera has a vertical ergonomic design and is compact enough to be taken anywhere and anytime so that you can capture the brightest moment of your daily life.
