Rollei announced the launch of its new Sportsline 50 waterproof digital camera that is scheduled to be available at the end of May 2010. Its key features include 5 megapixels of resolution, 8x digital zoom and 2.4-inch color LCD monitor.

The camera is modest indeed. There’s no optical zoom, surprisingly low-resolution sensor and standard VGA movies. But it has SMOS type sensor, which is said to deliver better color reproduction. Another camera’s advantage is its price – it is to be available just for 50 Euros in Europe.

This affordable device is aimed at those who don’t bother about all those modern features and will be happy to have a simple device to be taken everywhere. It will suit kids best as it is waterproof, so you can be sure that it won’t get spoilt if your child drops it into water while your family are having an outing on a river bank or a holiday at the seaside.

The Sportline 50 is made with ease of use in mind and can take nice pictures automatically. It also has 7 pre-set shooting modes (unfortunately they are not specified in the press release) for you to choose which of them suits your shooting situation best.

The camera accepts widely-used SD memory cards and is powered by standard AA batteries so that you can buy another pair the moment you’ve run out of power. It comes in a choice of bright body colors: you can choose between orange, yellow, blue and green options.

This year (2010) Rollei will be celebrating its 90th anniversary and, to mark it, the company presents the ultra-compact Flexline 100 inTOUCH digital camera. It features 10 megapixels of resolution, 3x optical zoom and 3 inch TFT LCD touchscreen.

The LCD touchscreen on the back of the camera gives you the ability to scroll backwards and forwards through the menus by simply touching the screen. Snapshots can be automatically displayed on the screen either horizontally or vertically, depending on how you hold the camera.

The camera is easy to use and features point-and-shoot operation. There’s a choice of 21 scene modes in the camera to match all possible shooting conditions. The portraits will look great with the camera’s smile and face detection functions. And in a playback mode you can to remove unattractive red eyes from you shots or create different mood lighting without having to copy them to the computer.

Rollei Flexline 100 inTOUCH ensures you don’t miss a moment with a high-speed serial picture function, which males it possible to take 30 pictures per second. It is especially useful when taking sport or action photos.

You can have a lot of fun with your Rollei camera as it allows you to replay the serial pictures on the display like a small film. The camera can obviously also be used to shoot “real” films (though for now nothing is known about their resolution).

RCP-Technik GmbH & Co. KG announced three new digital compact cameras, the Rollei Flexline 200, the Rollei Flexline 250 and the Rollei Flexline 140. The first two camera feature 12-megapixel sensors while the latter one has 10 megapixels of resolution.

The Flexline 250 possesses a 5x optical zoom lens that coupled with the camera’s sensor-shift image stabilization can produce high quality photos. The 200 and 140 cameras are equipped with 4x zoom and can offer only a digital stabilizer, which translates to ISO boost in low-light situation to eliminate image blurring.

The Flexline 250 and 200 feature a large 3-inch LCD Screen to compose and preview your photos.

The cameras feature point-and-shoot operation so that even beginners can take good photos with ease. The Flexline 200 offers also 21 scene modes to suit every possible shooting situation. The 250 also has a number of shooting programs as well as face and smile detection and a useful panorama feature. Unfortunately, no further information is provided.

The Flexline 250 is made from high-quality, rugged aluminum, and is available in either a black or silver finish. The body of the 140 camera has an ultra-slim design, being just 20mm thick in its thinnest part.

Rollei announced three new cameras from its Compactline entry-level series: the Compactlime 202, 102 and 101 models. They feature 12, 10 and 10 megapixels of resolution respectively. All of them have a stylish finish in a choice of different colors.

The cameras are remarkable by their ease of use. So they are the ideal tool for amateurs and snapshot photographers who prefer to rely on pre-programmed shooting modes that provide correct default settings at the press of a button for almost any situation. There 28 scenes in the 202 and 102 models, and the 101, a budget digicam can offer only 16 scene modes.

All the camera feature 3x optical zoom and 3-inch LCD Display (except for the 101 – it houses 2.5-inch monitor).
