Nikon launches the new AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens that would suit both FX and DX photographers. Its focal length range ensures its versatility and makes it possible to use it for different types of photography.

The lens’s f/4 constant aperture coupled with the new VRII shake reduction system extends the possibility of handheld shooting in low light. It allows using shutter speed four stops slower than it would be otherwise possible, which helps the lens deliver bright as well as sharp imaged even in toughest lighting conditions.

There’re 17 elements in 13 groups in the lens’s optical construction. Two ED and three aspherical elements help minimize aberrations while Nano Crystal coating eliminates ghost and flare.

The lens’s 9 aperture blades close to a rounded aperture, which produces gentle bokeh, the effect of blurring in background and foreground areas.

Nikon has just announced a new super telephoto zoom lens, the AF-S 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II, for both FX and DX-format DSLR camera bodies. It is rather expensive and will sell at estimated price of almost $7000 yet it is packed with powerful technologies and promises to deliver excellent optical performance and thus great image quality.

The lens is ideal for sports, nature and travel photography, and can deliver good low-light performance and extends the possibilities of handheld shooting thanks to its Vibration Reduction (VR) II technology that gives you the ability able to shoot up to four stops slower than otherwise possible and still get blur-free images.

Moreover, the VR II function is always switched when shooting in the D-Movie mode on a Nikon D-SLR body, which helps to stabilize HD video capture.

The lens’s construction includes four Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements to reduce chromatic aberration and help deliver sharp and clear images with great true-to-life colors. Nikon’s proprietary Nano Crystal Coat, in its turn, will reduce ghosting and flare.

The AF-S Nikkor 50mm F1.4G is a standard prime lens. It has a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 for a bright viewfinder experience and fine background blur with shallow depth of field. It can be used with both full-frame and sub-frame Nikon D-SLR cameras. When mounted on a DX-format SLR, the focal length is about 75mm.

The lens has two focus modes, M/A (manual-priority autofocus) and M (manual focus). Its nine-blade rounded diaphragm, in its turn, ensures that out-of-focus elements appear more natural and attractive.

Together with its 24mm wide-angle lens Nikon has recently announces the affordable and practical AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR lens. It is supposed to be the world’s first ultra-wide angle zoom lens with Vibration Reduction for full-frame digital SLR cameras such as the D700.

The lens offers f4 maximum aperture at the wide end, which is not very fast. Though, the situation is improved by Vibration Reduction II technology that gives the ability to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than usually and still get sharp images. This is especially useful when shooting in low light.

The new lens’ complex optical design combines 17 elements in 12 groups. This includes Nikon’s exclusive anti-reflection Nano Crystal coat, two ED glass elements and three aspherical glass elements, which help reduce distortion and aberration, even at maximum aperture.

The AF-S 16-35mm f/4G ED VR uses Silent Wave Motor in its autofocusing system to ensure ultra quiet and smooth operation.

The lens is build to withstand the demands of everyday shooting, which means it has a robust magnesium construction and weather sealing so that adventurous enthusiasts as well as professional photographers shouldn’t worry about their equipment while shooting in tough weather conditions.

Zurab Kiknadze, Product Manager Lenses, Accessories & Software, Nikon Europe says that the lens could become “a more affordable alternative to the professional AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED or more recent AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED ultra-wide-angle lens”.
