Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR AF-S DX Micro

    October 15th, 2009
Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR AF-S DX Micro

Nikon has recently introduced the Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR AF-S DX Micro macro lens designed specially for Nikon’s DX format DSLR cameras such as the D90 and D5000. It is also ideal for portraits or candid photography.

Compact and lightweight, this medium-telephoto has 18°50′ picture angle that is equivalent to a focal length of 127.5mm in Nikon FX- and 35mm-format cameras.

The new micro lens has a 1:1 reproduction ratio, so you can get extreme close-ups. And its rounded nine-blade diaphragm provides for natural blurring of out-of-focus background or foreground info.

The new Nikkor 85mm lens incorporates advanced features such as the VRII image stabilization system to compensate for camera shake and the SWM (Silent Wave Motor) for fast, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance.

Nikon’s IF (Internal Focusing) design allows you to manually focus quickly and smoothly and eliminates both front lens element rotation and changes in lens length during focusing.

There’s also an M/A (manual-priority autofocus) mode for instant switching from autofocus to manual focus by rotating the focus ring, even during AF servo operation.

Optical construction of the 85mm lens consists of 14 elements in 10 groups, with an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element to minimize chromatic aberration (fringing).

The new Nikkor 85mm lens will be available from early December 2009 at an estimated selling price of $529.95.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200MM F/2.8G ED VR II Professional Telezoom

    August 26th, 2009
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200MM F/2.8G ED VR II Professional Telezoom

Nikon Europe unveiled the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200MM F/2.8G ED VR II, the professional tele-zoom featuring class leading quality under any lighting conditions. It is the remastered version of the current Nikon70-200mm lens.

The lens is designed for Nikon FX-format cameras. It features 2.9 zoom, f/2.8 maximum aperture and Silent Wave AF Motor.

The 70-200mm F/2.8 offers the last word in Vibration Reduction (VRII) stabilization technology, which gives you the ability to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible.

Two modes of the VR II are available: Normal for everyday shooting and Active to minimize the vibrations caused when shooting from motorcycles or aircraft. Both of them offer a stable viewfinder image, making focus point acquisition and framing more comfortable and precise.

The new lens is designed to deliver the best image quality in its class with excellent edge to corner quality on today’s FX format cameras. Nikon’s anti-reflection Nano Crystal coat and seven ED glass elements minimize internal reflections and aberrations, so the lens is able to deliver rich, high contrast images.

The 70-200mm features three focus modes: A/M; M/A and M. The new A/M switch enables autofocus priority even if the focus ring is being handled during shooting.

Its design also deserves attention: the lens is housed in the tough magnesium body that withstands the affects of dust and moisture and enables you to keep shooting whatever the conditions.

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200MM F/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens

    August 20th, 2009
Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200MM F/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6G ED VR II is a new super zoom lens from Nikon with improved functionality and image quality as compared to the popular AF-S DX VR Zoom NIKKOR 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6G IF-ED that it replaces.

Offering 11.1x optical zoom, this lens is more practical and delivers more quality with its new zoom lock switch function, improved Super Integrated Coating and Vibration Reduction II.

Yes, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200MM F/3.5-5.6G ED VR II incorporates an all new zoom mechanism to prevent what is sometimes referred to as ‘zoom creep’ when the lens moves under its own weight when tilted. A new zoom lock switch also keeps the lens compact when being carried.

Besides, the lens features Nikon’s exclusive Vibration Reduction (VRII) that gives you the ability to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible. In this way the lens minimizes image blur caused by camera shake.

The optical VR system also stabilizes the viewfinder image enabling more accurate autofocus acquisition and framing to make it ideal for shooting in low light conditions without a tripod.

The 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6G’s Super Integrated Coating, an exclusive multi-layer lens element coating, reduces ghost and flare, and ensures improved image quality and contrast.

Robert Cristina, Manager Professional Products, Nikon Europe says: “The 11.1x zoom ratio and beautifully balanced design make it ideal for anyone on the move and travelling light. The latest modifications in the new 18-200 come as a result of valuable feedback from customers.”
