The Canon Selphy CP780 is a new compact photo printer featuring improved image quality and faster print speeds. Designed with a new wave-shaped top surface, the CP780 compact photo printer comes equipped with a 2.5 inch LCD screen. This photo printer is designed both to be easy-to-use and convenient to carry so as to be ideal for the parent who wants to share images of their children with family and friends.
“Canon SELPHY printers have consistently provided consumers with high-quality images at a reasonable price,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. “Now with the three different color variations, users will not only be able to share their memorable moments but also their own unique style.”
The new Canon SELPHY compact photo printer will produce images of a higher quality than previous models due to enhancements to the Portrait Image Optimize feature. The Face Detection brightness correction and color cast correction have been vastly improved so that skin tones and faces will be produced with natural and realistic colors.
A 2.5-inch LCD screen makes it easy to review images and navigate through menus from various angles. The buttons have been arranged in an easy-to-understand layout for simplicity and seamless navigation through menus. The easy-to-access card slots allow users to plug in memory cards2 or print straight from the camera with a USB cord.

Canon PIXMA iP4600 is a color ink-jet printer. It stays outside from the all-in-one trend and emphasizes on one thing; as you might have guessed, it is printing. So don’t search for scanning, fax, or copying functions on the iP4600. But it’s great for general consumers being a budget-friendly home (or office) solution with the price tag of ~100$.
Wrapped in glossy black plastic with faux brushed metal accents the Canon Pixma iP4600 bears a strong resemblance to the rest of Canon’s current Pixma line.
As the iP4600 represents the budget single-function home/office inkjet printer there are no card readers, LCDs, in-printer image editing, or networking capabilities here though Canon does provide options for creating black-and-white images, instant illustration simulations, upping image vibrancy, and reducing noise and grain right from the print control panel. You can also specify paper size/type, print quality, and which tray the media will feed from.
So, as you see, the persuasive feature hare is certainly the price. Amateur photographers and those who need to print document occasionally will like this iP, even appealing to cash-strapped college students. And don’t forget that regret may be caused by the fact that from time to time inks need replacement:-).
Strong points:
* Handsome, reasonably compact exterior
* Great photo printer handles lots of paper types
* Setup couldn’t be much easier
* Fantastic price
Weak points:
* Slower than most competitors, especially on startup
* Flimsy build quality
* No built-in networking option
Canon PIXMA iP4600 – Specifications:
- Photo lab quality borderless 4*5 inch photo in ~20 seconds
- ChromaLife100 system delivers vibrant photos
- Automatic Duplex Printing
- Maximum 9600 by 2400 dpi with microscopic droplets as small as 1 picoliter
- “Easy-PhotoPrint EX” software with enhanced “Auto Photo Fix” (removes red eye)
- 600 x 600 dpi up to 26 PPM (Black)
- 9600 x 2400 up to 21 PPM dpi (Color)
- Paper Sizes Supported: Letter, Legal, 4″ x 6″, 5″ x 7″, 8″ x 10″
- Dimensions: 11.7″W x 17″D x 6″H
- Connectivity: USB, PictBridge
