Canon has just announced its new PowerShot SD4000 IS Digital ELPH camera (aka IXUS 300 HS in Europe) featuring 10-megapixel SMOS sensor, 3.8x optical zoom lens, high-speed burst mode and the ability to capture High Definition movies.

The letters HS in the camera title translate as “High-Sensitivity” system, that consists of the back-illuminated SMOS sensor and the bright f/2.0 lens. The former captures more light that enters through the lens, while the latter allows more light to enter, which dramatically improves the camera’s low-light performance and extends the capability of handheld photography.
