BenQ announced a new digital camera model – the DC E1240 – featuring 12 megapixels of resolution on a standard 1/2.3 inch CCD image sensor, 3x optical zoom lens, 2.7-inch LCD screen and, as usual, HD movie capture.
The lens doesn’t feature wide angle capabilities, though the majority of modern cameras so. It is not optically stabilized, but the camera is equipped with Super Shake Free image stabilizer that will combat blurring by raising ISO level. It is possible to go as high as ISO3200 in a 3-Mp mode, so you will get sharp, blur-free images even low-light conditions (though, they may be noisy).
The camera will suit a beginner, as it is easy to use, but photo enthusiasts will not be disappointed either. The E1240 features P/Av/Tv exposure modes where Av and Tv modes allow you to select either aperture of shutter speeds for more control over your images. You can also select AF area so that necessary object should be in focus regardless of the shooting situation.
The camera’s Auto Panorama stitching function lets you snap two or three photos in succession and it will seamlessly stitch them into one wide panoramic image.
The E1240 also offer you the peculiar Fisheye mode that makes images look like those captured with an extremely wide-angle Fisheye lens. This mode doesn’t really create a wide-angle image, as the lens remains the same, but you will get an impressive hemispherical image.
Great people’s shots are easy to capture with the camera as it has Face detection as well as “Beauty Enhancer” function. The latter is a pre-processing function that improves kin tone and smoothens blemishes.
