What’s new: The camera has been recently reviewed by Photographyblog!
The camera can stand any environment as it is waterproof down to 20 feet, shockproof up to 4 feet, dustproof and works in sub-freezing temperatures. It comes with a woven web fabric strap complete with a carabiner to attach the camera to various outdoor equipment.
The W90’s lens has 28mm wide-angle capabilities for easy capture of large group shots and breathtaking landscapes and cityscapes as it allows placing more subjects into a frame without going back. Its LCD has the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio so that is easy to view your images in strong light or underwater.
The camera has a wide range of pre-set scene modes for every possible situation so you can select the one that is closer to what you are shooting. Or you can rely on its Auto mode in which the camera automatically adjusts its settings to capture the best shot possible.
There’s no optical image stabilizer in the camera, but it uses the Advanced Pixel Track Shake Reduction technology for you to get blur-free images in any lighting.
For great peoples’ shots the W90 can offer its Fast Face Detection & Recognition, Smile Capture, and Blink Detection functions. There’s also a new Pet Recognition function that can identify up to 3 pre-programmed pet faces.
The camera also features Eye-Fi wireless SD memory card connectivity for built-in Wi-Fi capability and an infrared remote control compatibility with various Pentax infrared remotes.
With this camera you wouldn’t worry about taking it to the beach or slopes and wrecking it in the process, and this is often worth paying for. It also offers more unusual features on board deliver better image quality than can be expected from a camera made with tough capabilities in mind.
