    We continue to explore new Fujifilm digital cameras of 2010 line-up belonging to J-series of ultra compacts. Fuji FinePix JV150 features an effective resolution of 14 megapixels, 5x optical zoom, 2.7-inch LCD screen and HD movie capture.

    There’s no optical image stabilizer in the lens so you have to rely on the camera’s high ISO capabilities in order to combat blur in your images. The lens is not very light-sensitive with f-numbers starting with f/3.2 at a wide end. Neither it is wide-angle: it has 37-111mm focal length equivalent.

    The JV150 offers point-and-shoot operation suitable for those who would like to get images without bothering about camera settings. So there’s a Scene Recognition Auto technology in the camera, which automatically adjusts necessary parameters to achieve the best shot possible.

    There’re also 19 creative scene modes in the camera, namely Natural Light, Natural Light with Flash, Portrait, Baby, Smile, Landscape, Panorama, Sport, Night, Night (Tripod), Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Party, Flower, Party, Flower, and Text, which makes snapping convenient and easy in any shooting situation.

    The JV150 also offers all the necessary functions for quality portrait shots: Face Detection, Smile & Blink Detection and Tracking AF. The latter helps track moving subjects and keep them in focus until you press the shutter button.

    Fujifilm has launched a lot of digital camera this year, and extended its J-series line-up with the FinePix JV100 ultra-compact model. This camera features 12.2 megapixels of resolution, 3x optical zoom and 2.7-inch LCD screen – all housed in a black or blue body measuring 21mm at the thinnest part.

    There’s no optical viewfinder in the camera, and its lens is not impressive with its 3x optical zoom, f3.7 at the wide end and rather a tight 37mm angle of view. But the camera belongs to budget category – it is priced around 130$.

    There’s not much to say about camera controls. It is a point-and-shoot camera, so you have to rely on its Scene Recognition Auto technology that will adjust camera settings to get the best picture possible.

    At the same time you can have fun with the camera’s 19 creative scene modes, namely Natural Light, Natural Light with Flash, Portrait, Baby, Smile, Landscape, Panorama, Sport, Night, Night (Tripod), Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Party, Flower, Party, Flower, and Text.

    For portrait shooting the JV100 offers the usual combination of Face Detection, Blink Warning and Smile Shutter, as well as AF Tracking for crisp pictures of moving subjects and Automatic Red-Eye reduction.

    The camera also captures High Definition movies in 1280×720 format at a rate of 30 fps. The images and video clips and stored SD, SDHC, and MMC memory cards.

    Sony Electronics added a new model to its line-up of solid state camcorders, the HXR-NX5U. This is a professional camcorder that shoots Full HD video and implements the AVCHD video format.

    The camcorder captures 1920×1080 high definition images at a rate of 24Mbps, with both interlace and progressive modes. It also has 1080/24P, 720/ 60p and MPEG-2 standard definition recording. Like its predecessor, the HVR-Z5U, this model features 20x optical zoom G lens to provide for exceptional shooting freedom.

    At the heart of the HXR-NX5U lies a Sony’s Exmor™ CMOS sensor with ClearVid™ array, which helps it deliver full high-definition resolution and clear and low-noise video even in low light conditions.

    AVCHD technology has already been used by Sony in its consumer and professional cameras, like with the earlier pro model, the HXR-MC1.This highly efficient technology is based on MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Long-GOP image compression, which is a member of the MPEG family of codecs.

    Other features include both HD-SDI and HDMI™ outputs, two-channel linear PCM Audio Capabilities, built-in GPS function and SMPTE Time Code I/O and an upgrade option for 60i/50i switchable. The HXR-NX5U takes Memory Stick PRO Duo™ and SDHC class4 or higher memory cards.

    The device is also compatible with an optional HXR-FMU128 128GB Flash Memory Unit. It allows for more than 11 hours of recording time at 24 Mbps and is powered through a computer’s USB connection when you download or edit files.
