Sony CyberShot WX1 is an extremely compact digital camera with 10.2 megapixels, 5x optical zoom with SteadyShot optical image stabilization, HD movie capabilities, but what’s more important - an enhanced sensor for better low-light performance.
The camera features a back-illuminated ‘Exmor R’ CMOS image sensor. With front-illuminated sensors a metal wiring layer it can block some amount of light. Back-illuminated sensors mean that sensitivity increases twice over traditional sensors. As a result you can shots indoors and at night and get blur –free images.
The CyberShot WX1 is a speedy camera as well. It allows you to take photos in a burst mode at a speed of 10 frames per second. At the same time you get distortion free images thanks to the camera’s high-speed mechanical shutter.
The operation of the camera is largely point-and-shoot. The device offers you a choice of 11 scene modes, namely Beach, Snow, High sensitivity, Landscape, Gourmet, Twilight portrait, Pet, Fireworks, Soft snap, Underwater and Twilight mode.
For great portraits of friends and family you can make use of the camera’s Face Detection and Smile Shutter. And a Sweep Panorama function can automatically make panoramas from as many as 100 separate photos captured while you simply sweep your camera across the scene.
There an optional accessory for this camera, the IPT-DS1 Party-shot™ that makes it act as your own personal photographer, automatically shooting people in a frame including you.
The camera is only available in a black for an estimated price at US$350.
