Casio have just announced the release of the Exilim EX-G1 digital camera. Featuring 12.1megapixels of resolution, 3x optical zoom and 2.5-inch LCD screen, it is shock-resistant, waterproof and dustproof. It is housed in a sleek stainless steel body just 0.78-inch (20mm) thick.

The camera it self is a point-and-shoot one. It is equipped with the BEST SHOT function, which enables you users to take nice photos just by selecting the desired subject scene, for instance, “snow” or “beach”. The function automatically adjusts to prevent over- or underexposure. There is also a special “underwater” setting to eliminate the tendency of underwater photos to be somehow blue.

The G-1 is also intelligent enough to auto focus correctly, which means to detect the photo subject even if it is not a human face and determine the focus and exposure.

For colorful photos Casio incorporated their original Dynamic Photo function into the camera. This function allows you to combine a subject from one image with a different still shot that forms the background.

The camera also features a so called Interval Shooting with intervals that can be set at 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 3 minutes, and the capture time for movies may be set at 3, 10, 20, or 30 minutes.

The camera will be available in December 2009 foran MSRP of $299.99 in black and red.
