Nikon Coolpix S70 is a 12.1-megapixel digital compact camera that features and 5x wide-angle zoom and 3.5-inch touch-screen. At the heart of the camera lies the EXPEED processing engine.
The new 3.5-inch, wide-screen OLED Display with not only allows for a thinner camera design but also ensures immediate response and provides anti-reflection coating and brightness adjustment. It goes without saying that touch autofocus is also possible.
Nikon’s Hybrid Optical lens shift and Electronic VR image stabilization systems combine to deliver blur-free images. High ISO 6400 capability Motion Detection, Nikon’s original BSS (Best Shot Selector) also help achieve sharpest photos.
As with many Nikon compact cameras,the S70 is a point-and-shoot one, offering a wide choice of scene modes as well as Scene Auto Selector Technology. The latter is intelligent enough to determine the subject and the surrounding settings, and to selects the appropriate scene mode for optimal results.
The camera also allows you to easily take nice portraits of your friends and family with its Smart Portrait System. It includes Face detection of up to 12 faces in the framed shot, Smile Timer, Blink Warning and In-Camera Red-Eye Fix. Skin softening function, in its turn, adjusts smoothness to a subject’s skin for a better result.
Other notable functions are Subject Tracking that keeps a moving subject in focus, and Quick Retouch that automatically adjusts the contrast and saturation of selected photos to create an enhanced image and saves it as a copy.

As a digital compact camera, it is average - it has some nice functions, such as the Touch Shutter feature that lets you focus on your subject and take a picture very quickly; but enthusiast photographers will feel limited by the lack of user control over the picture taking process.
