Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2/35 ZE
Carl Zeiss has added an EF bayonet to their the Distagon T* 2/35 ZE moderate wide-angle lens with a classic 35 mm focal length to suit advertising, travel and nature photography.
On full-frame digital and film SLRs it offers an angle of view of 53 degrees, and works as a fast “normal” prime on DSLRs with APS-H sized sensor, such as the new Canon EOS 1D Mark IV. It is capable of capturing dynamic perspectives with high depth of focus and few distortions.
With an initial aperture of 1:2, the lens allows great shots even under difficult lighting conditions if a tripod is not available, e.g. while travelling. At the same time, its anti-reflection coating allows it capture bright light sources without artifacts.
As to the 2/35 ZE’s optical design it features nine elements in six groups, which permits high imaging performance across the entire image field and ensures high image quality at any aperture and focusing range value.
The lens also features relatively short angle of rotation of the precision focusing mechanism, which enables fast but precise focusing when required.
The Distagon T* 2/35 is perfect on-the-go thanks to its all-metal and y durable precision mechanics. It is Zeiss’ fourth wide-angle lens with an EF bayonet after the introduction of the Distagon T* 3,5/18 ZE, Distagon T* 2/28 ZE and Distagon T* 2,8/21 ZE lenses.
