    Nikon Coolpix S630

    March 31st, 2009
    Nikon Coolpix S630

What’s new: Digitalcamerainfo have reviewed the camera and added sample images!

Nikon Coolpix S630 is a pocket-sized camera with 12 megapixels of resolution, 7X optical zoom with image stabilization, 2.7 inch LCD and a “Sure Grip” design. It is “small camera, big zoom” offering from Nikon. The camera is also lightweight.

The S630 also has Nikon’s Smart Portrait system ( face, smile and blink detection, redeye fix and D-Lighting) and Motion Detection and scene selection which adjusts settings to different conditions. The S630 has no manual controls.

The camera is quite fast. In the “Sports Continuous” Mode it  shoots at 11 fps up to 20 photos, but at the resolution of 3 megapixels.

The Nikon Coolpix S630 comes in several colors: black, silver, red, dark blue or purple.

    Camera Reviews:

    Cameras.co.uk:
The Nikon Coolpix S630 does the job it sets out to do. The extra zoom it offers over other smaller cameras comes in handy the camera is easy to use.

    Dpinterface.com:
The camera has decent performance. It is as noisy as most compact cameras are - photos are usable up to ISO 400.

    Digitalcamerainfo.com:
The camera’s image quality is excellent, with low noise, above average color accuracy, and minimal lens distortion. Where the camera falters is its image stabilization system, a slow continuous burst mode, and standard definition video with very little control.

    Sample Photos Galleries: dpinterface.com,  cameras.co.uk, digitalcamerainfo.com.

    Sony CyberShot DSC W210

    March 31st, 2009
    Sony CyberShot DSC W210

A 12-megapixel Sony Cybershot DSC W210 is one the cheaper digital cameras that fit into a pocket and scores well for ease of use. It is a fairly, straightforward point and shoot camera that comes in a choice of silver, pink, green and a dark grey.

Beside its 4x optical zoom, you can increase the amount of zoom to up to 25x when shooting at lower resolutions. Also it’s possible to increase the capabilities of the lens by adding conversion lenses to the camera with a lens adapter.

With this camera Sony does offer a couple of extra features such as being able to adjust the level or flash. Other features include a smile shutter for firing off a photo when the DSC W210 detects someone is smiling; intelligent scene recognition for helping the camera to select optimum settings in tricky shooting conditions, face detection and a red eye correction function.

Overall, the Cybershot DSC W210 does a solid job, and though it’s not perfect it handles most photo opportunities well. The colors fairly reflect how the scenes look. There is plenty of depth to the colours and you will be able to produce appealing, vivid photos.

But macro shots could be better. Another wrong thing is that darkness can creep into the corner of shots when the zoom is not being used. And, as usually on compact cameras, noise levels step up quickly from ISO 400 onwards.

What does it compare to: the Panasonic DMC FS6 and the Olympus FE-5000

    Sony CyberShot DSC W210Specifications:

    • 12 Megapixels
    • 1/2.3 inch Sensor
    • Aspect Ratio: 4:3, 16:9, 3:2
    • 4x Optical Zoom
    • Aperture: f2.8 (W) - 5.8(T) - set automatically
    • Focal Length Equivalent 29.7 - 118.8mm
    • Shutter Speed: 1/4 to 1/1600 seconds - set automatically
    • Sensitivity: ISO100 - 3200
    • No Viewfinder
    • 2.7 inch LCD Screen with 230,400 dots.
    • Preset Scene Modes: Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Twilight using a tripod, Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Portrait Face Detection
    • Smile Shutter
    • Dynamic Range Enhancer
    • Burst Mode: Up to 100 shots at 0.6 second intervals
    • Movie Mode: 640 x 480 pixels, 30 fps

Recent Camera Reviews - All Advanced, HD movies, HDR and More..

    March 27th, 2009
Recent Camera Reviews - All Advanced, HD movies, HDR and More..

Hello, everybody! Here we talk about camera reviews.

Let’s begin with a DSLR. A 12.3-megapixel advanced amateur Olympus E-30, “prosumer,” semi-pro DSLR camera, as it’s called, was reviewed at dpreview.com. It belongs to an open-format Four Thirds lens and body system and features a newly designed Live MOS imager. It offers also an upgraded version of Olympus’s well-known live view technology and a large, bright optical viewfinder that provides 98 percent coverage.

Also advanced, but compact, Canon PowerShot SX200 IS was reviewed by Digitalcamerareview. It features 12.1-magapixel resolution, 12x zoom and 28mm wide-angle lens. Optical image stabilization and full manual controls provide for good performance and creativity. And the camera can record HD movies at 1280 x 720 at 30 fps.

Even more advanced is another compact from Canon – its 10-megapixel Canon PowerShot SX1. It features 1/2.3 inch CMOS image sensor, 2.8 inch tilt and swivel LCD, electronic viewfinder, a Speedlite-compatible hot shoe and can capture full HD (1080p) video. But its highlight is 28-520mm optically stabilized 20x zoom lens. The camera’s review you can read at dpinterface.com. There you can also look at sample images.

Now we are smoothly switching to other brands and find Fujifilm’s advanced funzoom reviewed at letsgodigital.com. The camera is the Finepix S2000hd, it features 10 megapixels, 15x zoom and manual controls together with a number of preset scene mode. It can take High Definition movies with a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels - and zoom can be applied during shooting.

Done with advanced cameras, let’s point and shoot! Take, for example, a 9.3-megapixel Ricoh CX1. Featuring CMOS sensor, 7.1x Optical Zoom, 28mm wide-angle lens, the CX1 hides in itself a very unusual feature for a simple camera: High Dynamic Range shooting! The HDR mode, I remind you, is designed to tackle difficult lighting situations by combining two images captured in high-speed succession. As a result, both bright and dark aspects of the photo exposed accurately. The review is at photographyblog.com.

See also Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G DX’s review done by dpreview.com, and listen..

Rumour goes! Oh, don’t even bother to take it seriously, but dphotojournal.com has spotted the possible next Nikon DSLR. D400, as it is called at Nikon Germany, might feature a 15.3 Megapixels CMOS sensor, 6 frames per second, ISO 200-6400, and HD Video capability with Live view. But, you know, that’s only rumour.:-)

Well, see you later at our Recent Camera Reviews Mix.  Bye)
