    Canon Mount Version of a new Tamron Lens - Ultra Wide-angle AF 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD

    February 27th, 2009
    Canon Mount Version of a new Tamron Lens - Ultra Wide-angle AF 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD

    Tamron will ship the Canon mount version of the ultra wide-angle lens for APS-C size format SP AF 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD in Japan on March 3. This new lens is designed exclusively for Canon and Nikon digital SLRs with APS-C sized image sensors. Pentax and Sony mount models will follow at a later date.

    This SP AF 10-24mm ultra wide-angle lens offers 2.4x zoom, with a focal length range of 16 mm ultra wide-angle to 37mm(35mm equivalent), and has a user-friendly lightweight, compact design.

    Tamron AF 10-24mm is a perfect tool for creating dramatic landscape, cityscape, and seascape imagery. At the ultra wide-angle setting, you’ll be able to capture scenes beyond what the eye can see. At the semi-wide-angle setting, you’ll capture scenes with angles of view almost as spectacular.

    You will also enjoy the freedom of creating close-ups at the minimum focusing distance of 0.24m throughout the zoom range.

    The optical system within this zoom lens uses three large-aperture glass-molded aspherical lenses, as well as three hybrid aspherical lenses, which minimize spherical aberrations, coma, and distortion. This lens has earned its place within Tamron’s SP (Super Performance) series.

    Epson Stylus R1900 Photo Printer Review

    February 27th, 2009
    Epson Stylus R1900 Photo Printer Review

    The Epson Stylus Photo R1900 is the latest and greatest wide-format photo printer and it offers incredible print quality, versatility and speed so you can make lab-quality photos in your office or home. The R1900 most closely resembles Epson’s premium wide-format photo printer, the Epson Stylus Photo R2880.

    The R1900 can create border-free prints in many popular sizes including 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, 8.5×11, 11×14, 12×12, 13×19 and more. Using roll paper you can print panoramas up to 13×44.

    The lay out is extremely basic here: control panel consists of just four buttons. Two USB ports are on the back of the printer. One very minor annoyance with the design of the R1900 is the lack of a built-in card reader.

    But the R1900’s performance doesn’t disappoint. The new Epson Advanced MicroPiezo print head with AMC (Advanced Meniscus Control) allows it produce prints with strikingly incredible detail and vibrant color and rich contrast. The printer uses Epson’s Radiance technology that is an advanced mathematical architecture that optimizes the use of each color of ink more efficiently to maximize the total color gamut.

    Print speed here is nice and fast, power consumption is lower than expected.The new Advanced MicroPiezo print head also incorporates an ink-repelling coating which decreases maintenance and increases reliability over the life of the printer.

    Strong Points:
    * Exceptional print quality
    * Speedy performance
    * Glossy and matte black inks for glossy and matte papers
    * Two USB ports so you can have an office desktop and laptop connected at the same time
    * Surprisingly affordable

    Weak Points:
    * Small ink cartridges run out of ink fast when making large prints
    * At this price, it should have a built-in card reader too

    Epson Stylus Photo R1900Specifications:

    • Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss 2 pigment ink for lab-quality glossy prints
    • Reformulated red and orange
    • Faster print speeds at maximum print quality
    • Rich blacks on any media with auto-switching Photo and Matte Black ink
    • Roll paper support for creating panoramic prints
    • Print professional looking CDs and DVDs
    • 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi for lab-quality prints
    • Eight Ink Cartridges, CD print tray and Roll paper holder accessory included
    • Dimensions: 24.3″ x 31.4″ x 16.3″ (the paper trays closed)
