9 ways to add shadow to your picture
Shadows in improper use can destroy composition. But using shadows as one of the main survey objects can help to create interesting, beautiful pictures. It is worth my admitting that you can make perfect shots without special lights equipment and expensive techniques. The most important thing here is to learn to see the shadow.
Let’s start!
1. Try to take a picture when the shadow is easy to notice, and on the contrary the object itself do not attract attention. The picture can be more interesting if the shadow reflects from the object.
2. Rearrange the main object and its shadow. A view won’t figure out at once what’s going on with a picture. It will add zest to the picture.
3. Distort the object shadow, using interesting back part (the thing the shadow is projected). Use symmetrical forms as well as unsymmetrical.
4. Make a dialog between the main object and its shadow. Good shots can be made on the dusk when the shadow falls on a wall and replicates the shapes of the object.
5. Use the shadow to fill an empty part of a scene you’re photographing and create an attractive picture. For example, different shadows, which are covering walls or floor thanks to the light falling down through the window, can be used for making an interesting picture.
6. Let the shadows add volume to dark elements on your photograph!
7. The composition can be found with the main object bars direct sunshine (for example, the light going through door opening).
8. Use the shadow to create a comic effect. The mechanism will be put not only in shadow picture, but maybe in co-acting with the main object.
9. You can use the shadow to create foreground in landscape photography; it also helps to convey volume.
