Photographer Interview: Konie
1. Who are you? Please give a brief background information.
Im Connie 53 yrs old from Ohio and I am a photography addict. I love going out almost everyday with my camera, I never leave home without it.
2. How long have you been doing photography?
I’ve always had a camera in my hand and have enjoyed photography, more so because of digital cameras..you can take alll you want and not have to wait for results as with film processing…i love that !!

3. How did you start doing photography? What got you interested in it?
I really found a love for it being a single mother, my son was in all kinds of sports and I had to capture the memories.
4. Do you earn living from photography or you do photography as your hobby/ your half time job?
Just a hobby mostly, I have done a full year of baseball photography for my grandsons team this past year and enjoyed it so much. I sorted through all the photo’s and made the team a webpage, it was quit a bit of fun for me to do.
5. What’s your day job?
Housewife but I do have a small candle shop and have been making candles for about 12 years.
6. Do you have special education? Did you take courses or go to a school learn photography?

No I have just learned everything from reading and forum boards….sites like shotaddict are great !! alot of trial and error and still learning every day
7. Are you specializing in a particular area of photography? What are your favorite places/objects to shoot?
My favorite places are just typical parks and lakes, you never know what you might see.
I love the outdoors so I would have to say nature, landscapes and sunsets and night photography
8. Who are your big photographic influences?
I would have to say the many people that I meet on the internet in photo forums, I look at your work and everyone inspires me, Thank You All for that, theres so much talent out there.
9. How do you educate yourself? Do you read special literature, visit photography galleries? What photo books/magazines do you have on your bookshelf?
I spend alot of time here on the internet, visiting forums and reading all that I can to learn more.

10. What equipment and software do you use (camera(s), lenses, film, etc.)?
I have a old minolta slr with several lens and filters that I haven’t used in years. I’ve owed 3 sony digital cameras my current being a sony h5 that I got last christmas…now Im on a mission for a digital slr
I mostly use paint shop pro or photo impact for editing.
11. What is your opinion on post-processing, especially enhancing pictures?
Most photos usually need the basic pp meaning sharpening or just cropping but I have done other effects as well and don’t mind pp if it’s not over done. The tools are there if they are used right
12. What advice would you give someone who is interested in photography and wants to improve their photography skills?
Learn your camera and shoot away, digital is free. I’ve taken the same picture say 5-6 times with different settings and have learned from that as well.
Read and talk to other people, the internet has a wealth of information.
13. What’s the most challenging aspect of photography for you? What\’s the best part of it?
Mostly shooting inside sports, the low light gets me everytime……practice practice and don’t forget the tripod.
