This amazingly slim, sleek-bodied camera is so thin you can easily slide it in your pocket and take it anywhere. It’s Olympus FE-230.

It is very easy to frame, shoot and share on the bright 2.5″ LCD of FE-230. The FE-230’s high-resolution, 7.1-megapixel imager delivers superior quality in larger prints without sacrificing detail. The 3x optical zoom delivers sharp, clear images and brings you closer to the action without taking a step.

The compact FE-230 weighs a mere 4.3 ounces with card and battery, making it the lightest member of the FE-series. Its slim, metal body fits easily in most pockets and feels comfortable in your hand. Despite its small form, the camera’s controls are quite large and responsive; even large thumbs can easily manipulate its mode dial and control pad.

• Image Sensor

The FE-230 is a 7.1 megapixel camera. The maximum size of an image is 3072×2304 pixels. There are two compression levels (SHQ and HQ) at this size, but you can also choose from 2048×1536, 640×480, and 1920×1080 (16:9 aspect ratio).

• LCD

The 2.5 inch LCD on the back of the FE-210 has 115K pixels of resolution. The display is pretty fluid and gains up or down depending on lighting conditions. Colors are represented well. There is no optical viewfinder of any type on this camera.

• Zoom

The FE-230 has a 3x optical zoom lens (38 – 114mm in 35mm terms). Eight steps along the optical zoom range provide a fair amount of control over your framing. The lens has a maximum aperture of f3.1 at wide angle.

• Focus Modes and Focus Ranges

In normal focus mode, at wide angle, you can focus on objects as close as 23.6 inches. At telephoto, this number moves to 39.4 inches. In macro mode and wide angle, you can focus as close as 3.9 inches. With macro and telephoto, it moves out to 23.6 inches. In super macro mode, you can focus as close as 2 inches.

• Flash

The built-in flash has a wide angle range from 0.33 feet to 12.8 feet. At telephoto, the flash range is 2 – 6.6 feet. The flash can be set to auto, red-eye reduction, fill (always on), and off.

• Memory Media

Images can be stored on xD-Picture Card (up to 2GB) media and approximately 20MB of internal memory.

• Image/Movie File Format(s)

Images are stored as JPEG only. Movies are captured as AVI Motion JPEG with audio files.

• Connectivity

There is a multiconnector for USB 2.0 Full Speed out jack and AV out.

• Power

The FE-230 is powered by the LI-42B lithium-ion battery pack (740 mAh).

Have you ever attended a car racing or an old cars exhibition, or other similar event? A great variety of colors, breathtaking forms and fascinate sounds! Is a never-to-be-forgotten show! If you cannot possess this beauty, you can make a collection of beautiful photos.

1. A beautiful subject does not make a good photo. You can shoot all pretty and unusual cars you see, but a beautiful car is a beautiful car, while a good photograph is not about a bright object only. It is about the ability to shoot as well. It doesn’t matter how beautifully and skillfully tuned the car, it is not a guarantee for a good image.

The photo above is a self-portrait, which is our reflection in a splash boards taken accidentally. Besides, we paid attention at this photo only during the post-processing. It helps up understand that details of the car often are much more interesting and impressive than a full view of the most unusual cars.

2. Show your own perception of the car in your photos. It may sound strange, but a car photo can be a portrait, landscape, still life and a nude photo. Imagination and creativity help the author to feel the car and render your perception.

3. Take use of a polarizing filter. If you look at car photos in magazines, you will notice that the car surface is even and has no highlights and reflections on it. It is the result of precise metering of studio light and the usage of special mat cover. The equipment is very expensive and it is used in professional photography only.

In amateur photography, it will be very difficult to get rid of highlights and reflections, that is why we’d better take advantage of this drawback. And a polarizing filter is absolutely a must in these conditions.

4. Use histograms or point exposure metering. Remember that highlights and reflections will make an auto mode useless. But in case of digital photography, histograms and exposure correction will help you lot. Do experiment and you will get what you need.
