Nude Photography Technique
According to statistics about two thirds of all photo enthusiasts at least once tried to do nude photography. As far as portrait photography or people photography are concerned, almost every photographer takes interest in these genres. It should be mentioned that people photography is a challenging activity, which can be of different types. In the current article we will speak about a few standard techniques for shooting people.
Fine Art Nude Photography, or Erotic photography
Nude photography is a portrayal of an unclothed female body. It is a genre of fine arts which helps the artist to express his personal understanding of the beauty through the nude body. The main thing to realize when you start doing nude photography is that it is more about the art and the beauty rather than physiology.
This genre has been popular since the very beginning of photography. Many outstanding photographers took great interest in nude photography, among the best known artists of are E. J. Bellocq, Julian Mandel, Arundel Holmes Nicholls.
Different Approaches to Nude Photography
It is quite difficult to give any recommendations on how to photograph a naked model, as it is a very individual process. Each person sees and feels it in his/her own way, that is why there are different approaches to people photography. There are photographers who try to expose sexuality of a subject, others aim at revealing personality of a model, others depict emotional state of a sitter, etc. All these factors influence the approach to the process of photographing you choose and the model herself (her appearance, inner state, mood, etc.).
People photography can be divided into two main types. One is when you make special preparations beforehand: you create a character, think of lighting, clothes, make-up, etc. In this case you are a director of the performance.
The second type is more spontaneous. It presupposes a great deal of unplanned actions. In this case you are just a witness of events. You main task is to be ready to take that unique moment, which will be the most beautiful, interesting and curious. Despite its spontaneous nature, it differs from candid photography, as you are not supposed to go to the nudist beach and start shooting people there. The thing is that you should give more freedom to your model, allow her to choose poses and so on – in a way she participate in the process of creating a character.
