Shoot Landscapes like a Professional: Photography idea
According to some statistics, landscape photography is a favourite genre among photographic enthusiasts. I think that any photographer has at least a few landscapes in his/her collection. Also I believe that many of us are familiar with disappointment, when instead of a bright and outstanding landscapes, we end up with absolutely dull photos. In this article we will try to find out the reasons why sometimes we fail to show the beauty of the Nature on our photographs.
First of all I have to mention that it is not possible to take a good landscape photograph without knowing some techniques, which help deal with color, light and shapes. But it is not enough just to know these techniques, it is even more important to learn how to apply them so that they help you to render your message, or show your idea.
The idea of a photo is its most important element. It something that makes the photographer take their camera and shoot this or that scene. Thus a photograph is aimed at exposing feelings rather than thoughts. The main goal of each photographer is to be able to show what they feel about the things they see. A photographer can try to show his idea of loneliness, tranquility, presence, intuition, rhythm, perspective, color, etc.
From all what is said above, we can conclude that material objects such as flowers, trees, mountains do not contain any idea. The main aim of images of such objects is not to show them, but to show the mood they create and the feeling they bring to the author. The landscape photographer tries to show the mood, state and character of Nature through its components. That is why it is not the scenery itself which matters, but the weather, season or time of the day are of more importance.
As I have mentioned, a message or an idea of a photograph play a vital role in photography. But we can’t forget about such important things as light, color and composition, because only through these elements we can accent an idea of a photograph. And it is this accent what makes a difference between a professional and amateur image.
So what can the photographer help render his/her idea?
Rule number ONE. Before shooting, try to understand what exactly you like about this scenery.

This simple exercise will give you a key to solving a problem of lighting, color and composition of your future image. The reason for many dull landscapes is that you like one component of a scenery, and your camera focuses on a different component. For example, you admires bright colors of flower, while your camera ‘likes’ the sky more, which result in dark silhouettes of ‘beautiful’ flowers. But if you realize what you like most about the scenery before shooting, you can adjust camera settings to accentuate the main subject.
