LG CU500
The LG CU500 is the first phone for the US with HSDPA high-speed data. Featuring slim, black flip design, the phone feels solid and comfortable to hold housed in its brushed-metal and black plastic body. When open, the CU500 offers well-spaced keys, a bright screen, and dedicated music and camera buttons.
The CU500 is a phone for those who want the speed of HSDPA and Bluetooth music access. It certainly has some bugs, but its price is very reasonable – it is available at $79.99 after rebates.
There is myriad of useful features in the phone such as a music player with external controls, stereo Bluetooth, a micro SD memory card slot, and a rotating 1.3 megapixel camera with high-resolution video capture. It also supports AIM. ICQ, Yahoo!, and MSN, but e-mail client support is missed and Web browsing by default is restricted to WAP. Other features include multi-tasking, USB mass storage mode, a full-duplex speakerphone, dual color displays, and over-the-air software updates.
For a set month fee, you’ll get access to the multichannel Cingular Radio, the Cingular Video service, optional MobiTV live streaming TV, and streaming Video.
The CU500 offers great media opportunities – with its digital player, you can transfer MP3, unprotected WMA, AAC, and M4A files using a USB cable and Bluetooth. But you will definitely need a MicroSD memory card, as there is only 16MB of onboard memory available.
With the 1.3-megapixel camera, the CU500 becomes a rather good cell phone for its price. The quality of shots are the same as most camera phones offer. Video clips are wobbly, but bright and not washed out.
