The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM has been announced a lightweight standard zoom lens for pros.

The lens is compatible with a wide range of Canon digital SLRs, although models with smaller APS-C sensors (30D, 20D, 10D and 350D / Rebel XT) will effectively deliver a focal length equivalent to 38.4-168mm.

Having 24-105mm focal length, the lens has a 4.3x optical zoom range from wide angle to short telephoto. It is a high-quality general purpose lens suited to capturing both wide landscapes and tighter portrait work.

The lens has 18 elements in 13 groups including Super UD (ultra low dispersion) and aspherical glass to struggle with chromatic and spherical aberrations.
