The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Lens proved to have an excellent focal length range.

Maybe this lens is not as sharp as Canon EF 300mm f4.0 L IS Lens at 300mm, nevertheless the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Lens performed really not that bad. It proved to be sharp wide open from 100mm up to 400mm with little change in between. So to sum up, the sharpness sweet spot is around 300mm. Images even at 400mm were quite sharp.
