Digital camera review: Olympus Mju 700

    March 31st, 2006

Howdy! In my previous post, I wrote about Olympus E-330. Today I will continue with Olympus digital cameras and move on the Mju series, which stands for stylish and weatherproof devices.

Olympus Mju 700Olympus Mju 700, a 7.1 megapixel digital camera with a 2.5 inch LCD, became a worthy successor of its elder counterparts. It has a well-thought-out design. A well-organized lay-out makes the camera easy to use and the metallic finish makes it look very stylish. Besides, it feels secure to hold it, which is not typical of most small cameras.

The 2.5 inch screen is perfect for composing shots in low light conditions thanks to Olympus ‘BrightCapture Technology’.  But there can be some difficulties when seeing shots at bright daylight, because of protective clear acrylic material, which makes the surface reflective and thus causes some inconvenience.

The Mju 700 is a good choice for novices. The automatic mode, 23 Scene Modes and the shooting guide - that all will help you easily better your images. Besides, the camera features the autofocus system which provides quick and simple photography, though sometimes it does not show the best results.

The Mju 700 is also provided with the in-camera noise reduction and the anti-blur mode, which can effectively improve the quality of the pictures. In addition, the camera has four different image quality levels, which are SHQ, HQ, SQ1 and SQ2. All the levels provide sharp and detailed shots with natural colors.

Super Macro mode allows as close focusing as 3.1 inch (8cm) from the subject and the sufficient auto white balance is good both indoors and outdoors.

    Olympus Mju 700 specifications:

    Characteristics
    Olympus Mju 700
    Sensor
    7.1 million megapixel
    Lens
    3x optical zoom
    Focus Distance
    Normal: 7.9 inch/20cm
    Super Macro: 3.1 inch/8cm
    Modes
Auto Mode, Anti-Blur Mode, Guide Mode, Movie Mode
    Scene Modes (23)
Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, Sport, Indoor, Candle, Self Portrait, Available Light, Sunset, Fireworks, Museum, Cuisine, Behind Glass, Documents, Auction, Shoot and Select, Beach, Snow, Under Water
    BrightCapture Technology
Improved live-view especially in dark surroundings
    LCD Monitor
    2.5 inch TFT, 115,000 pixels
    Internal storage
    19.1 MB
    Memory Type
    Removable xD-Picture Card
    Battery Type
    Li-42B lithium-ion battery
    Weight
    3.6oz./103g

On the whole, the durable battery, swift zooming and sizzling design makes Olympus Mju 700 a good choice, especially for novice photographers, who are looking for high-resolution images and easy use. The camera is available in silver, black, blue and orange. The price varies from $334.95 to 399.95.

Flash Drive: Imation clip flash drive for on-the-go photography

    March 30th, 2006

Imation clip flash drivesHello, people! How are you doing? Hope everything is OK.

So, what will it about today? About one more flash drive. Imation Corp announced its new clip flash drive for on-the-go professionals.

What is the most appealing about the Imation drive is probably its convenient design, that allows an on-the-go photography. Due to its ultra-tough carabineer clip, the drive can be attached to backpacks, shoulder bags or even belt loops, making your essential files available to you everywhere and at any time.

The flash is also promised to be very tiny and it can be stored in a tough rubberized shell, that keeps the device and thus your pictures in safety. At the same time, the drive can be easily removed from the case and is always at hand when you need it.

The Imation flash drive will suit both professionals and so called prosumers who are always on the go. Its storage capacity varies from 256 MB to 2 GB and correspondingly the price ranges from $29.99 to $119.99.

The new device fits in the tightest USB slots. Its broad compatibility allows quick and easy image transferring, sharing and storing. Apart from digital photography purpose, the Imation flash drive can be used for transferring, sharing and storing everything from business to MP3 files.

The flash drive is already available in “business black” and at the end of April it will be joined by “on-the-go orange” and “backpack blue” colors.

Digital camera review: Olympus Evolt E-330

    March 29th, 2006

Hello! My todays post is about professional Olympus Evolt E-330. The model does really deserve to be written about. Why? Because it is the first D-SLR digital camera in the world with option of framing the shots on the LCD. But it’s not the only thing that appeals to the camera, in addition to its unique feature the E-330 also offers a high-resolution images, fast speed and  2.5 inch Hyper Crystal LCD.

The digital SLR is unique as in addition to the commonplace possibility of composing photos by viewing the camera’s LCD, it features continuous Live Previews that enables users to frame compositions while live viewing through the LCD.

The screen that measures 2.5 inch can be angled up 90° and 45° which allows you to take shots up high, down low, and from other tough angles. Besides with the HyperCrystal technology you can view the LCD both indoors and outdoors without additional glare.

This camera is equipped with a typical for all Olympus E-series cameras the Olympus-exclusive Supersonic Wave Filter that protects the image sensor from dust. The 7.5 megapixel MOS imager promises high quality shots and TruePic TURBO Image Processor provides overall high camera speed.

The E-330 is compatible with the whole range E-System accessories. It has two memory card slots so you can choose among CompactFlash Type I and II, MicroDrives, and xD-Picture Cards. The E-330 comes with a Zuiko Digital Specific lens, which has a 3.1X optical zoom with a 14mm-to-45mm range (35mm lens with a 28mm-90mm zoom) and corresponding maximum f-stops of f/3.5 to f/5.6.

The price is about $1,100. Check our online store for more Olympus models http://www.shotaddict.com/shop/.
