Polly068, the winner of the Travel contest, is answering our questions.
1. Who are you? Please give a brief background
information. My name is Michele Wright. I live in Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
2. How long have you been doing photography? I have been doing photography as a hobby for about 10
years.
3. Do you earn living from photography or you do photography as your hobby/ your
half time job? I enjoy photography as a hobby.
4. Do you have special education? Did you take courses or go to a school
learn photography? I learned most of my photography from my husband.
5. Are you specializing in a particular area of photography? What are your
favorite places/objects to shoot? We both like to do outdoor photography. I enjoy doing
macro work as well.
6. Who are your big photographic influences? I like Ansel Adams and Freeman Patterson and Andre
Gallant, among others.
7. How do you educate yourself? Do you read special literature, visit
photography galleries? What photo books/magazines do you have on your
bookshelf? I really enjoy the British magazines like Digital
Camera World and Digital Photo magazine.
8. What equipment and software do you use (camera(s), lenses, film, etc.)? I have a Nikon D200 now with a 18-200 Nikon VR lens.
9. What is your opinion on post-processing, especially enhancing pictures? I like to use photoshop sometimes to enhance some of
my photos.
10. What advice would you give someone who is interested in photography and
wants to improve their photography skills? The good thing about digital photography is that you
can take as many photos as you want without wasting film. This is good for learning
photography. Also I think the magazines and books that are out now for digital
photography are a good learning tool.
11. What’s the most challenging aspect of photography for you? What’s the
best part of it? The most challenging thing about photography for me is
that I never think my shots are that great. The most rewarding thing is when
other people enjoy my work.
