Lizz2323, the winner of two contests, is
answering our questions.
1. Who are you? Please give brief background information.
Lizz. I live in Washington State and I am a high school student.
2. How long have you been doing photography?
I have been doing photography for about 2 years now.
3. Do you earn living from photography or you do photography as your
hobby/ your half time job?
I do photography as a hobby, mostly because that’s all I can do with it.
4. What’s your day job?
I don’t have a day job, like I said...I am a high school student.
5. Do you have special education? Did you take courses or go to a school
learn photography?
I didn’t take any classes for photography, I guess you could just say natural talent.
6. Are you specializing in a particular area of photography? What are
your favorite places/objects to shoot?
I mostly focus on nature photography but recently I have been
more interested in people and couples. I love to photograph silhouettes
and sunsets especially on Hood Canal,Wa.
7. Who are your big photographic influences?
I don’t have any big photographic influences, I have just always had a love for photography.
8. How do you educate yourself? Do you read special literature, visit
photography galleries? What photo books/magazines do you have on your
bookshelf?
I learned through experimentation. I look at something of
natural beauty and try to discover what would work best for that shot,
trying to bring out as much beauty as possible. I mostly read articles
online about tips, but I find it more effective to teach myself.
9. What equipment and software do you use (camera(s), lenses, film,
etc.)?
As I am young and can’t afford much I use a Panasonic DMC-TZ5, all very basic software as well.
10. What is your opinion on post-processing, especially enhancing
pictures?
Personally I don’t see the talent in extreme editing. Obviously
as few minor effects, brightness contrast ect., are not an issue, but I
think that the camera and the photographer can produce amazing art
without editing. Although,I don’t disrespect people who do edit.
11. What advice would you give someone who is interested in photography
and wants to improve their photography skills?
My advice would be to keep at it and only focus on what you
love. Photography is an amazing gift and to use it well on what you
love is the greatest treat life has. Also to explore your limits and
what your camera can do.
12. What’s the most challenging aspect of photography for you? What’s
the best part of it?
The most challenging thing is trying to get the perfect shot
of anything that moves. The best part is seeing the final product and
watching the effect it can have on the world.
