Photographer Interview: Jaxx
Jaxx, the winner of several contests, is answering our questions.
1. Who are you? I'm Jackie Hadley and I live just outside of Mobile Alabama.
 2. How long have you been doing photography? Well I've carried
around a film camera since I was about 13 years old. I always felt the
need to capture the moment, but I just really started getting into
Photography in the last 2 years when my friend gave me a digital camera
to show me how much better digital is.
3. Do you earn living from photography or you do photography as
your hobby/ your half time job? I do not make a living doing
photography but I do make a little extra cash here and there doing
friends and family's portraits.
4. What’s your day job? Well I stay at home with my two beautiful
children and I also keep my friends two girls and my sisters daughter
to support my hobby.
5. Do you have special education? Did you take courses or go to a
school learn photography? I did not go to school for photography but I
did take 4 courses of technology classes in high school that really
peaked my interest in photography.
 6. Are you specializing in a particular area of photography? What
are your favorite places/objects to shoot? I really enjoy doing
portraits especially infants and children but I have done a few erotica
shoots for friends that were really fun, but it's hard to get people to
take there clothes off...LOL
7. Who are your big photographic influences? Well I don't know
many famous photographers but there are many photographers on Flickr
that greatly influence me...BethJansen, Ozekki, Dave in Tejas, and
actually a member of this site Randy Keller.
8. How do you educate yourself? Do you read special literature,
visit photography galleries? What photo books/magazines do you have on
your bookshelf? Hmm....actually none. I do flip through the occasional
photography book, but I've learned most of the little bit that I know
just from looking at other peoples work and trying to mimic it in my
own style. I also learn a lot from the net.
9. What equipment and software do you use (camera(s), lenses,
film, etc.)? Well I have a cannon Rebel that I use once in a while but
I pretty much use my point and shoot Fujifilm Finepix s1000.
10. What is your opinion on post-processing, especially enhancing
pictures? I love it and use it all the time. I think it can add to an
image greatly.
12. What advice would you give someone who is interested in
photography and wants to improve their photography skills? Well get a
camera and shoot shoot shoot. Find a camera club in your area and join,
you can really learn a lot from other photographers more experienced
that yourself.
13. What’s the most challenging aspect of photography for you?
What’s the best part of it? The most challenging would have to be
photoshop I'm still pretty new to the whole editing gig. The best part
is the whole reason I started, capturing my children as they age.
