Pentax K-X vs Canon T1i
For a first DSLR this is a great camera! Its direct competitor in my opinion would be the T1i. However with a much lower price point and very similar features, this seems to be the better buy. Overall it looks great, works very well and is lots of fun!

My New Pentax
I'm a loyal Pentax person, thanks to my dad - this thing is really cool. Obviously the way it looks is sweet - but it is a serious little camera too. I'm sure it will be outdated by the time I finish this review - but hey - you can't beat time!

Just got mine... and I can't put it down!
After a LOT of research, I settled on the K-x. The price, features and ease were what attracted me to it. And I haven't been disappointed so far. Clicked about a 200 pictures this week, battery life is still full. Found it great for taking pictures of my niece (a feisty 3 year old who runs amok) with the image stabilizer. Easy functions, all of which I can operate with one hand.

A white DSLR? Show it off. Go on, you know you want to.
Look, I'm not going to pretend I bought this camera for it's "awesome" photo taking abilities. Nor shall I pretend I bought it because it's "fantastic". (You'll notice these words seem to crop up many times in the 19 previous reviews).
I bought it because it looks cool.
Yes, I admit it. I bought it for it's looks.
And price. Looks and price.
Sure, it's a dslr, with all the "real" camera clicks and snaps and stuff. Yes, it takes good photos, especially at night.
But people, let's be honest here. It's the looks which are the main attraction.
If it wasn't, you would have bought the BLACK one wouldn't you? :)
So I'll bring it along to any evening functions I happen to be invited to and it'll be a great starting point for conversations. And as a bonus, it actually takes photos. Wonderbah.

But I'm also honest :)
So if you're not sure if you want to splurge, go ahead. It's cheaper than many bridge cameras, takes decent photos, and best of all, LOOKS COOL.
( Two asides:
1. be prepared to bring a spare memory card if you take videos. I took a 27second clip and it was 122meg! That's huge!
2. I read in a review for the RED Penatax k-x that the red one was painted red- the owner could see the inside of the battery cover was white plastic. As far as I can see, this is NOT the case for the white k-x. The whole casing is white plastic- not paited. So there should be no wearing off of the white leaving a silver or different colour exposed.)

My first DSLR
It is a good DSLR, and I have used it for a month. The batteries can last long time, and quality of the pictures are pretty good. I am still learning how to use all the functions. So far so good.

Pentax Cameras HistoryPENTAX Corporation (before 2000 known as Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co.) was founded in 1919.
 In 1952 they manufactured first Japanese 35mm SLR camera with a cloth curtain focal plain shutter and shutter speeds range from 1/20 to 1/500 sec. It was called Asahiflex I. But even more revolutionary was their Asahiflex II (1954), having has the world's first instant return mirror system. Before that a photographer had to manually bring down mirror after having taken a picture. This system made rapid shooting possible with a SLR.
In 1957 Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co. carried out another coup - they used of a pentaprism in the viewfinder of the Asahi Pentax SLR. The pentaprism made eye-level viewing possible and provided correct images. It was also the first time that the name Pentax was used on a camera. The very name, as you might have guessed, is derived from “PENTAprism reflex.”
