Customers Reviews 2009-11-21 the Zi8 ain't no Flip Mino A lot of the reviews said that THIS was the camera that brought micro camcorders into their own. This is not true. The Flip does a better job than the z18 on every front - from video to low light video to audio recording.
even the build quality of the zi8 is terrible. It feels terribly flimsy and the form factor does not aid on-the-go shooting the way the Flip does.
I was very disappointed with this purchase. | 2009-11-20 Easy and fun to use Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1R3MNO82AY9SL Quick video review of the Kodak Zi8 | 2009-11-20 Kodak Zi8 - Flimsy usb, impossible firmware update I was disappointed in the Zi8. The interface was terrific but the usb was so flimsy, it was a complete pain. I could not get the images to show on either of 2 computers and was unable to manage the firmware update. I returned it. Amazon was terrific. | 2009-11-20 Kodak Zi8 HD camera reveiw I have had the Kodak Zi8 for almost 2 months now, and am very happy with it. It replaced an older JVC mini dv camcorder. The picture quality is very good. The widescreen aspect ratio, compared to the old format is awsome. I can't get over how crisp and clear the videos are on my HD tv. The low light videos of my daughters birthday are great. Since it slips into my shirt pocket, i take it everywhere, and now have lots of videos that I would never have taken with the older, larger camcorder. No sound problem, as the sound works great. My advise is buy it, you wont' regret it for the money. A more expensive camcorder will not get you a better picture, just a better zoom lens. This lens is fine for what it's intended for. | 2009-11-20 don't even bother i was looking for a video camera and I was between the Flip HD and the Kodak zi8. I decided to go for the zi8.
I got it yesterday and in summary: it is a piece of junk. It is my first return trough Amazon after years of purchasing all kinds of stuff online.
The camera freezes all the time, the power button doesn't work 90% of the time, so the only way to turn this camera was by removing the battery. I could not download videos into my PC. I contacted Kodak customer service, i installed the software upgrades and the camera still freezed all the time. I even bought a new Kodak SD memory card thinking this could have been the problem, and nothing got solved. Kodak customer service suggested that I got the camera exchanged. And yes, I am exchanging it for a Flip or something else! | |

Kodak Cameras HistoryThe history of Kodak dates back to the 19th century, the very beginning of the photographic era.
In late 1870th George Eastman, a junior clerk in the Savings Bank in Rochester, USA, was going to set up for a journey and take some images during it but faced great difficulties of carrying all the necessary things – the camera & chemicals – with him. From that moment he got obsessed with the idea of making photography accessible to masses.

The following years he was trying to invent what we all know as a photographic film. In comparison with plates rolls were easy to deal with and suitable for mass production and hence for nonexpert photography. In 1888 the world’s first film camera was unveiled - already under the Kodak brand. The name Kodak was also Eastman’s invention, whose favourite letter in the alphabet was “K.”
The slogan of Eastman Kodak Company was “You press the button, we do the rest.” So the next important innovation of them was photo printing service – users could simply send completed rolls of firm to the company, and receive ready-make images. This principle of having your photos printed at minilabs has been working up to now.
