2009-11-05 Works as advertised I purchased this floating strap to use with a Panasonic TS-1 underwater camera. I used the camera extensively while snorkeling in the Caribbean on a recent cruise.
There's not much to say, other than the item works as advertised. I kept the strap around my right wrist when photographing and fortunately never was forced to use it to "actually" save the camera. I wanted a bit of piece of mind, so I allowed the camera to go untethered from my wrist. The floating strap easily kept the camera from sinking. |
2009-10-18 stinks The plastic connector between the camera and floatation device is designed for quick release--so you don't have to carry the floatation device all the time. But it disconnected under moderate tension unexpectedly. Several times my camera dropped several feet after picking up the camera by the floatation device. Fortunately, the camera is shock proof. Fortunately, the waterproof camera had not been dropped overboard. I have secured the camera to the floatation device, but now it's a pain to disconnect. I should have bought the more expensive one that Olympus offers. |
2009-10-03 Floating Camera Straps The straps do the job, kept the camera from diving to the bottom of the bay. Unfortunately the cameras did not work and no pictures. Kept the straps for future snorkling trips. |
2009-09-28 Review of floating camera strap Floating camera strap works well and color coordinated with my new orange Panasonic waterproof camera. |
2009-08-30 worthless The string connecting the camera to the strap broke the very first time I took it out into the water. I watched in horror as my camera quickly sank to the bottom. There were no rough waves or strong currents - I was swimming smoothly along the surface with the camera dangling from my wrist when the string just snapped. Everything was connected properly - the little string just broke right at the apex. I wish I'd tested it on dry land first. |
