Better than the Nikon branded battery pack
This Zeikos pack is almost identical and works much better than the Nikon one. I purchased the Nikon MB-D10 for my D700 back in April and have nothing but trouble with it. I even sent the Nikon MB-D10 back to Nikon for repair and I still had problems. I couldn't be happier with this Zeikos unit and it's a third of the price.

Great Product, Great alternative to the MB-D10
This is a great product for only a fraction of the cost of the Nikon brand. I purchased this product for easier maneuverability when taking portraits and after realizing that shooting video on my D300s quickly exhausted the 1 battery in the camera. The Zeikos grip is made of hard plastic and the construction is very sturdy and firm. The colour and texture is almost identical to that of the D300s camera body. You would have to look very closely or would have to directly compare it to the Nikon brand to notice the difference. It uses 1 ENEL-3E battery and comes with an extra tray for 8 AA batteries. Once connected to my D300s the MBD10 icon instantly appeared in the LCD screen. I found the dials and the shutter release very responsive with no delays. The fit on the D300s was very good with no large unexpected gaps. Keep in the mind that this is a relatively inexpensive aftermarket grip thus one cannot expect the same quality as that of the more expensive Nikon brand. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the MB-D10 I highly recommend this product.

Good alternative, but not Nikon build quality
I ordered this grip after reading many positive reviews, and it seemed the best alternative to the very pricey Nikon grip. Having gotten it I still feel that it is the best 3rd party option, but do not expect Nikon quality from this. I was a little disappointed to find the grip extremely plasticky. Yes I know this is a plastic grip, but compared to other plastic grips, such as a Pentax made grip for another camera I have, this grip feels very hollow and fragile, and the tolerances are somewhat loose. The battery tray seems to constantly rattle and not fit tight, and the controls are NOT just as good as Nikons. I've read several times the shutter is just as good...it's ok, but it's not the same and feels cheaper.
This being said appearance and comfort are top notch, and it's never failed me in the field. Operates just great. But I have used the Nikon grip, and some older ones on other Nikon cameras, and they built just like the cameras - like tanks. Just be aware that these are not. Decent, inexpensive grip.

Inexpensive D300 grip
The Zeikos ZE-NBG300 grip is a good deal for the money. From looking at it the grip doesn't look like it has a cheap build quality although it doesn't have the build quality of the nikon grip. The grip holds to the base of the camera pretty tight and doesn't have the flex wiggle like the cheaper nikon grips like the one for the D200 or D80 which feels like a cheap piece of plastic flopping back and forth.

There are problems with the way it handles electronically. When the grip is attached it reprograms the rear thumb scroll button to adjust the exposure compensation at the top and the bottom.

And it also changes how the image preview works on the screen when zooming in or out so it doesn't zoom in as far in certain modes.

Aside from those two problems I haven't found anything really bad with it. I do wish there was a lock on the grip thumb navigator as I often bump it and move my focus point when it isn't locked. But for 1/3 of the price of the nikon it is the best option.

There are other inexpensive grips out there but they really look cheap and don't match the camera body and colors as much.

To avoid any confusion the grip offers the capability to hold only one battery in the grip and one inside the camera. It still effectively doubles your shooting time. And the AA battery pack holds 8 batteries instead of the 6 batteries listed.

Nikon Cameras History

Nikon Corporation is one of the major companies of the Mitsubishi Group, a multinational corporation headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and specializing in optics and imaging.

Nippon Kogaku K.K., or Japanese Optical Society (afterwards became known as Nikon Corporation) was formed at July 25, 1917 as a result of merging of three firms: Tokyo Keiki Seisaku-sho's optical division, Iwaki Glass Seisaku-sho и Fujii Lens Seizo-sho. The new company was aimed at manufacturing high-quality optics for Imperial Japanese Navy. And up to 1945 it actually was their main goal that determined the company’s philosophy and traditions. The first president of Nippon Kogaku was Yoshihira Wada.

Apart from military equipment the company produced microscopes, telescopes and other measuring instruments for industry and science. From 1932 they started serial production of Nikkor lenses for photo cameras. It’s an interesting fact that all Canon cameras, launched between 1937 and 1947 were equipped with lenses produced by Nikon!

After the WW II Nippon Kogaku K.K. manufactured its own camera –a rangefinder Nikon 1 – and stopped manufacturing lenses for Canon. The new camera appeared already Nikon-branded.
