Customers Reviews 2010-03-14 A great camera! I bought this camera about five months ago, and I have loved it ever since. I am a fourteen year old movie making fanatic, and I have taken videos, with this camera, of everything around me. It is very simple and easy to use, however; it has many features to improve the movie making experience. I almost bought a "flip" camera before, but now I'm so glad I didn't. I was pretty disappointed with the editing software (not that I was expecting some amazing software) because really it doesn't do anything. I have yet to figure out how to burn a DVD(I don't think my laptop has a DVD burner) but I am still delighted with my purchase. | 2010-02-27 SONY Handycam Camcorder Good Product.
Simple and easy to use. Captures and records images with great resolution for a camcorder that is not high definition.
The battery could last a little longer, but the product is very good.

The person I purchased it for seems to like it. | 2010-01-17 I love this Camcorder! This video camera is exactly what I was looking for. I am not someone who is good with gadgets and technology. I wanted a camcorder that would be easy to use, and easy to play back my videos. I didn't even need to read the directions to figure this one out. You put the mini-DVD in, press record, and you're good to go. Then when you want to play it, you just eject the mini-DVD and play it right in your DVD player. My #1 consideration in purchasing a camera was that I could easily record my family and then just as easily share the videos with others. I wouldn't know anything about editing software or special features, but for us, this camera is perfect. The picture quality is also very good, and the camera is small and easy to carry around. | 2009-12-17 Can I use a memory stick? I HAVE THIS SONY DCR-DVD650 SONY HANDYCAM SINCE LAST SUMMER. I LIKE THE CAMERA. i WOULD LIKE TO USE A MEMORY STICK, HOWEVER THE MANUAL CLAIMS I CANNOT USE A MEMORY STICK ON THE 650 BUT ONLY ON THE 850. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN USE A MEMORY STICK AND JUST HOW TO DO IT? THANKS. | |

Sony Cameras HistorySONY Corporation is a multinational corporation with headquarters in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the leading manufacturers of electronics, video, communications, video game consoles and information technology products. The very name “Sony” is derived from sonus, the Latin word for sound.
The history of SONY Corporation dates back to the spring of 1946 when an entrepreneur Akio Morita and a promising young engineer Masaru Ibuka opened a modest radio engineering workshop in Tokyo. At that times markets were not abound in technological products; that’s why they were free to develop any direction in electronics. So, as soon as in 1951 Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation have launched Japan's first tape recorder called the Type-G.
The invention of transistor opened new horizons in the world of electronics. In 1957 Telecommunications Engineering Corporation came out with a transistor radio. Though being not the first to do this, it was SONY to make radios commercially successful for the first time. Their serial production was already under the brand SONY, so both the product and the brand won worldwide recognition.
By the 70-s SONY Corporation have become the world’s biggest audio and video equipment manufacturer. In I964 they produced first desk calculator. In 1968 ... More About Sony Cameras |
