Customers Reviews 2009-11-21 beautiful colored pictures I have always liked kodak`s quality of picture's colors. The camera itself is very very good. I picked the pink, to satisfy my girls desire, but this color fades and scratches really fast. does not look nice now but is one of the best digital cameras I have had. The only thing, everybody mentions it and is true: the only battery: the kodak (not generic, not radio shack) KODAK clic battery recommended. Lasts about a week of medium use, and recharges fast. DO NOT WASTE your money in other. and the charger must be adequate for that battery. not all chargers even fixing this battery charge them good. But i'd buy this camera again if lost it, so it means i am happy with it. | 2009-11-20 Versatile handy and all around nice digicam We've wanted a new digital camera for several years. I read & read - much of it here on Amazon. I'm shy of professional reviews (which can be overly into high end stuff) I like the reviews here on Amazon alot.
One of the biggest gripes I've seen here have been related to power issues. Yes You Must use Lithium Batteries or you're gonna be Disappointed. Its Twenty-0-9 get yer darn lithiums and move forward. Amazon has great deals on the lithium batteries - they're the Kodak KLIC-8000 style but the generic ones work quite well.
One of the things about it nearly being 2010 is small is the way things are. I like the fact that I can easily carry my Z1485 in my pocket. Thing is, I hate the way most of these cameras give you nothing to hold onto. Grabbing cameras at local retailers I found most of them all too easy to drop. That was the first thing I liked about the Z1485. That bit of a bulge with that rubbery strip makes it far easier to hold than most cameras in this class. The on screen little let you know what mode you just went into is handy too. A true view finder sure would be preferable but the screen works okay.
Then I seemed to recall that Kodak had slipped in to an abyss of poor quality and lack of keeping up with current technology. I went back and started doing some research and found that they had done a come back and were back as being a maker of `good bang for the buck' cameras.
I found that it had both the point & shoot for my hunny and multiple program modes for myself. We do alot of photography at night club shows - difficult and generally dim lighting, performers moving, dancing, and so on. The relatively large CCD helps the Z1485 handle poor lighting. Ricky likes the 'smart capture' features and gets plenty of good shots. The optical image stabilization is awesome!
The first pics I took with it were done by setting it to smart capture in a dim bar with awful lighting. I shook the camera like a can of spray paint and hit the shutter button repeatedly trying to get blur, backlighting, and whatever other intentionally bad situations to see what I'd get for results. What I got was a bunch of pretty good pictures of things I didn't care about. I was amazed at how well the Z1485 did with me trying to get bad pix. Of course when trying for good pix they're oft pretty good. Using the program modes is even better (for those of us so inclined)
We give it two thumbs up. heres a little thing on the smart capture feature - [...] | 2009-11-17 Fantastic Camera This camera is absolutely amazing! It is compact inexpensive and takes the most wonderful pictures. It is very easy to use and the dial that Kodak uses makes it simple to understand for any user. It is by far my favorite camera. | 2009-11-13 Great little camera for the right price!! I love my kodak!! I was looking for a rechargable camera but settled for this one because of the price. The pictures are clear as day and the close-ups are incredible! It takes lithium batteries though, and have found the batteries last longer if you take them out or insert a little piece of paper to block the batterie's connection to the metal plate. It seems the power "leaks" from the batteries even if it is off which is a small inconvenience for the quailty of photos that it provides. GREAT PRODUCT!! | 2009-11-12 Battery Sucker Great pictures, easy to use and constantly eating batteries. I've never seen anything like it. | |

Kodak Cameras HistoryThe history of Kodak dates back to the 19th century, the very beginning of the photographic era.
In late 1870th George Eastman, a junior clerk in the Savings Bank in Rochester, USA, was going to set up for a journey and take some images during it but faced great difficulties of carrying all the necessary things – the camera & chemicals – with him. From that moment he got obsessed with the idea of making photography accessible to masses.

The following years he was trying to invent what we all know as a photographic film. In comparison with plates rolls were easy to deal with and suitable for mass production and hence for nonexpert photography. In 1888 the world’s first film camera was unveiled - already under the Kodak brand. The name Kodak was also Eastman’s invention, whose favourite letter in the alphabet was “K.”
The slogan of Eastman Kodak Company was “You press the button, we do the rest.” So the next important innovation of them was photo printing service – users could simply send completed rolls of firm to the company, and receive ready-make images. This principle of having your photos printed at minilabs has been working up to now.
