digital tv antenna
the digital tv antenna purchased made absolutely no diffrence in the quality or quanity of TV reception from that obtained with the current in-use conventional analog antenna. Purchase was a waste of my time and money.

RCA ANT 1450
This product performs as advertised, when attched to a new LCD television. It was able to pull in at least 15 digital stations, and 15 analog stations from the Sacramento area. The TV/DVD player has the picture of a 1080p, excellent. The sound for the TV is perfect for a small room and the DVD sound is much louder, you would need to turn it down. This unit performs better then any other rabbit ear/UHF antenna that I have used. Well worth the money.

Does not perform as advertised
The rabbit ears I had been using easily outperformed this piece of junk. I checked the signal strength meter on each channel and in every case the signal from the rabbit ears was stronger. I tried this antenna flat and upright in various positions, with and without the amplifier, and could not get as many channels as the rabbit ears. I also tried it with second tv with the same dismal results.
I bought this at Best Buy for $50 and I can't wait to return it.

short of expectations
I received this antenna as a Christmas present and quickly tested it, amplified and non-amplifed, against existing antennae/converter/hdtv combinations around the house. I was shockingly disappointed and like another reviewer found that it did not outperform simple rabbit ears. I swapped the antenna for existing antennae in five different locations, four of which are using rabbit ears or combination rabbit ears w/loops and one using an Eagle Aspen DTV2UHF 2-bay antenna (a clone of the DB2). The RCA had trouble receiving channels that the other antennae had already received and were stored by the boxes or the TVs. When I did a channel scan, it predictably picked up only the strongest stations and dropped a number of stations that the other antennae had already detected. Another gripe I have with this antenna is that it uses a very stiff, thick coaxial cable (approx. ¼" in diameter) to connect to the TV (or the supplied amplifier, which also uses this very stiff, thick cable). This cable is so thick and stiff that it can affect the directionality and stability of the flat and lightweight antenna. The cable comes out of the middle of one side of the rectangular antenna, somewhat perpendicular to the plane of the antenna (the flat surface). The antenna may be lain flat (if the cable doesn't get in the way), or stood up using a thick u-shaped metal stand which fits into the back of the antenna on the same end where the cable is attached. Depending on how you position the antenna, the stand and the cable can interfere with each other, a minor nuisance. All in all, it looks like this is one gift that will be going back.

Save your money. You should be able to get the same performance using a coat hanger. I will concede however that reception of digital channels is a problem because of the generally weak signals. I do not know how much is due to the poor quality of the converter I am using (obtained with the rebate coupon). But this antenna won't help you. I normally receive 6 analog channels. With the converter and rabbit ears I receive 3. With the RCA 1450 I receive 3. Rigging up a coat hanger I receive 3. Signal strength as indicated with the converter display mode is about the same with the coat hanger or with the the RCA. You will need a 300 to 50 ohm balun plus a length of coax with an F-connector. But these should cost only a couple of dollars and the coat hanger is free. Or you could just stick to your rabbit ears the performance is comparable to the "patented design" of the RCA 1450.

We’ve a handful of small gripes, but not enough to stop us highly recommending this for beginners. For the money, you’ll struggle to find anything that will take photos as well as this.
