Customers Reviews 2009-11-14 Great simple remote shutter release for 5D Mark II The product was delivered quickly and it works perfectly with my Canon 5D Mark II.
This is a very simple, cost effictive, wireless (infrared) remote shutter release. Like a cable release, but better because it is not physically connected to the camera and therefore can't cause it to move at all.
This is not as sophisticated as some of the RF remotes, but it is simple and very thin, and inexpensive, and does not require anything to be fitted to the camera.
Canon's equivalent infrared remote works equally well, but costs twice as much and is much buliker and less comfortable in the pocket. | 2009-11-12 Opteka RC-4 Wireless Remote Control for Canon XSi I bought this Opteka RC-4 Wireless Remote Control for Canon XSi because I had lost my Canon RC-1 remote and it works just as good. I especially liked that it is half the price of the Canon RC-1. | 2009-11-11 Thanks to your reviewers I just received my remote yesterday, and couldn't figure out how to use it. I'm an extreme novice with my new T1i(my first SLR), and the instructions that came with the remote were next to useless. Thanks to you reviewers, especially A. Beckett (I copied / printed your instructions to keep), - it seems to be a relatively simple process to set it up. It will also eliminate my "camera shake".
I bought this remote because of the low cost - these camera accessories can really add up fast. Thankfully, I got a good price on my camera! | 2009-11-11 Works with T1i, but.... Short, sweet and to the point...
The RC-4 works fine with the Canon T1i, no complaints there. However the instructions that came with the remote are useless. Sorry, but it is the manufacturer's responsibility to provide accurate instructions for the products they claim to support. At any rate if it weren't for kind reviewers like Bojan Tunguz below who posted an update on how to make the RC-4 work with this family of cameras, I probably would have tossed this unit in the spare parts bin. That's why three stars.
Incidentally the T1i programs exactly the same as the XSi in regard to the remote. Please see Bojan's post below for further directions. Thank you!
| 2009-11-10 Works great Opened it up - pointed it at the camera and voila. This remote is very easy to use and I find it quite handy and functional. | |

Canon Cameras HistoryCanon Corporation is a world-known manufacturer of office equipment ranging from printers and fax machines to scanners and copying machines.
The amount of photographic equipment produced by Canon is rather moderate in comparison to their other products. But it is in demand around the world. Don’t forget that it is the photographic cameras that the company began its business with.
As early as in 1933 Goro Yoshida and his brother-in-law, Sabura, founded the Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory in Tokyo. Their goal was to create a Japanese camera and make it known throughout the world. To begin with, the young people bought up and examined most advanced German models of that day. The enterprise was sponsored by Takeshi Mitarai, best friend of Uchida, a prosperous doctor, who later became president of the company.

In the following year, 1934, Japan's first domestically-made 35mm focal-plane shutter camera “was born” and was named "Kwanon" - after the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. The trademark Canon was registered a year later.
The first consumer model Hansa Canon appeared in 1937 and the le... More About Canon Cameras |
