Awesome optic in a small package
I bought one of these for my wife's AR-15 carbine when they first came out in an attempt to reduce the overall weight as much as possible before a carbine class we were attending together. I mounted it using the Larue LT660 quick-detach mount, which has worked great and hasn't caused any trouble at all over the last couple of years. The carbine also has a fixed front sight base and a folding rear sight that both line up with the lower third of the T-1's viewing window for a great backup combination.

Anyway, the Aimpoint T-1 performed so well that I ended up getting one for my favorite AR-15 too:).

These sights are extremely quick for acquiring targets and the brightness adjustment is quick and easy as well. Personally, I like to have the dot at the lowest possible setting where it is easily visible. This gives me a fast sight up close that is also very accurate out to at least 100 yards - where I've had some pretty impressive groups considering this isn't magified at all and is rated as 4MOA.

Speaking of accuracy, I was at the range with my kids (ages 10 & 8 at the time) and they wanted to shoot a couple of rounds out of the AR-15 before we left. I setup two targets @ 100 yards and put a couple of rounds in their target before letting them shoot just so they wouldn't feel bad (since they had only shot .22 rifles at close ranges). Needless to say, they both shot one round apiece, then we went out to check the target where we found 4 shots right in the middle. At that point I had to explain that I must have missed a couple of times when I was shooting at my target:).

These sights use the small, coin-shaped CR2032 batteries and will supposedly last five years of being constantly run on brightness setting 8 of 12. There actually isn't even a way to turn it off (other than removing the battery), so I just set mine both to '8' when I'm done shooting and put them in the safe like that. At this point, they've been running for 2 years with no sign of dimming at all. As a precaution, I keep a spare CR2032 battery in the pistol grip with a coin that can be used to remove the battery cover - in a worst case I could just use the backup sights as well.

Even though the viewing window is small, you won't even notice that with both eyes open. Actually, it looks like you're just looking at the world with a red dot super-imposed on what you are aiming at - I really do love that! It's hard to imaging a faster aiming system.

If I could change one thing, it would be to add flip-up lens covers on the front and back like some of the larger Aimpoints have available. But, on the other hand, I'm sure that's part of the reason the other Aimpoint models are bigger and heavier:).

Overall, I can't say enough good about this sight. If you are looking for a quality red-dot for close quarters that will still function OK at 100+ yards, I think this is the sight for you. It is rugged, reliable and easy to use - so there isn't much more I could ask for.

The best gets lighter
The Aimpoint T1 (and the H1) are the pinnacle of cutting edge in weapons sighting systems. Every bit as rugged and reliable as the full size models but with less bulk and less weight to haul around. The T1 is the Night Vision Capable version, while the H1 is the same model without the Night Vision settings).

The T1 has an estimated battery life of 5 years and weights almost nothing. The small size of the tube I thought would be noticeable but it is not at all. After the minimum amount of time you will only notice the red dot and not the sight housing surrounding it. The sight itself is very short and needs a space or separate mount to be used with an AR style rifle (there are dozens of quality made aftermarket mounts). The T1 can be used as the primary weapons sighting system or as a backup 'piggy backed' on a magnified optic.

You will pay for the T1 but what you get is the highest of quality from a company that stand behind its products 100%. There is a reason why you have seen Aimpoint optics on the sights of military, law enforcement and serious shooters the world over. The Aimpoint is by far the toughest and most reliable red dot optic system I have ever seen or used.
