Customers Reviews 2009-01-05 Great camera - wonderful pictures! First, let me tell you my one and only problem. In low lighting, the flash automatically turns itself off. However, if there is even the slightest light (i.e. a candle or distant streetlight), the flash doesn't work, producing a bad picture. Does anyone know a way around the automatic flash? Is there a way that I can make the flash stay on no matter what?
Other than that, this camera is wonderful. I bought it at Walmart after debating on another cheap camera or spending good money on a nice one. I'm glad I made the decision I did! The lithium batteries that are required are a tad bit expensive, but have a good battery life, so that's okay. The video function works well - it doesn't replace a camcorder by any means, but it does what I need it to do. The HD videos look great, even after YouTube's compression!
Also, as previously stated, an 8GB card does cause a bit of lag in the processing, and it seems to lag the camera by about 10 seconds when turning it on, but I can live with that. However, if you need quick access, I reccommend using a 2gb card.
If anyone could let me know about the flash issue, that'd be great. :)
| 2009-01-03 okay, but not great I bought this camera so I could take detailed macro photos of my design work. And for that it works well. And for taking photos of my kid it works well (scene settings like "sport" and "children" are nice). My only gripe about his camera is the flimsy lens cap and view finder piece. The lens cap broke off from the strap so now when it falls off (which is often) I'm afraid I'll lose it forever. And somehow my kid managed to pull the cushioned viewfinder piece right off and I can't get it back on for the life of me. And both of these issues happened with what I call light use so just be aware of this when buying. This was my first Kodak camera and I probably would not buy another in the future. I kinda wish I had spent a bit more money for a Canon or Nikon. | 2008-12-29 I'm returning this camera Do not buy this camera. I spent some time reviewing the product and should have paid attention to the issues with the battery life. I have gone through sooooo many batteries, that this camera is becomming too expensive. I can only get about ten shots per set of batteries. If you are carrying any extra batteries to a soccer game, there is something wrong. I am now searching for a new camera! | 2008-12-28 WOW- This camera rocks I ourchased this camera earlier this year. I wanted to try it out in different situations before I write my review. All I can say is WOW! This camera is the best digital camera that I have owned. I use smart capture almost all the time, and all pictures come out amazing.
What I like about the camera
1) The Zoom- I love the zoom on this camera. It is what drew me to buying this camera
2) Picture quality- amazing
3) 2 viewfinders- I love having two viewfinders so I can use the eye-level one when there is too much reflection on the LCD
4) Ease of use- I find this camera very easy to use
I did not like the fact that this camera came with a one use battery. I bought a Kodak rechargeable battery when I bought my camera. Other than that, I love everything about this camera.
If you are in the market for a new camera, I highly recommend this one. | 2008-12-26 On/Off Switch Doesn't Work I've been looking forward to experimenting with photography with this camera and received it for Christmas yesterday. After taking a few pictures, it shut off. The battery that it came with was bad, so I put new lithium batteries in it and it would only turn on if I put the dial on "sports mode". I took a couple of pictures before it shut off again. The on/off switch is odd. It stays in the "On" position regardless of whether it's on or not. When I move the switch, it turns on and immediately back off. I'll be taking it back. Does anyone have any recommendations for a higher pixel camera with high zoom? | |

Kodak digital cameras: V610Hello! One more recent novelty that is worth mentioning is the Kodak Easyshare V610, which was introduced last week.
The Kodak Easyshare V610 is a dual lens digital camera that has two 6 megapixel sensors, a 10x optical zoom and a 2.8 inch LCD display with 230,000 pixels.
The V610 model is the smallest digicam in the world with a 10x zoom range (equivalent to 38-380mm). Due to Kodak Retina Dual Lens Technology, the camera features two Schneider-Kreuznach C-Variogon all-glass prism zooms in the same camera (a zoom lens of 38-114mm and a second zoom lens of 130-380mm). And for each lens the model offers two 1/2.5 inch, 6 megapixel sensors.
Moreover, the new V610 is one of the first digital cameras that incorporate Bluetooth wireless technology for transferring shots from or to other devices, which are up to 30 feet away.
The novelty captures high-resolution images at high shutter speed that has a range of 8 secs. – 1/2000th sec. It also features 5 ISO speeds ranging from 64 to 800, and its maximum aperture is f/3.9 (wide) -f/4.4 (tele) for the 38-114mm lens and f/4.8 for the 130-380mm zoom lens.
Overall the Kodak V610 has 23 Scene Modes including an Auto exposure mode. The novelty also incorporates an advanced Video Mode with sound that allows recording 640x480 VGA movies with 10X optical video zoom at 30fps. Built-in video-specific image stabilization technology helps to reduce the effects of camera-shake from hand and camera movement. The mode uses MPEG-4 compression for optimal quality and storage size and the length of video is limited only by your memory card.
For better results of you digital photography, Kodak incorporates 3 auto-focus systems - TTL-AF, multi-zone AF and center spot AF. Besides, you can choose from Single, Continuous, Macro or Landscape focus – that will be especially helpful for beginners. And an AF assist lamp will make the process of focusing even easier assisting in low-light situations along with the 4 flash modes (auto, off, fill, red-eye reduction).
With the V610 you’ll take natural color pictures thanks to its 5 different colour effects, which are High Color, Natural Color, Low Color, Black and White and Sepia. Besides, you can choose between 3 sharpness adjustments (High, Normal and Low) according to the situation.
The Kodak V610 supports the ImageLink and PictBridge printing standards, and it connects to a computer via USB 2.0. It is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion Battery Pack (3.7V, 720mAh). You can use 28 Mb out of 32Mb of internal memory for picture storage.
In appearance, the V610 model resembles its predecessor, the V570. It is a pocket-size digicam that is packed in a sleek black metal body and has dimensions of 111 × 55.5 × 23.2 mm, and weight of 160g. It will be available soon this month for about $500 price.
