Highly Recommend With No Reservations!
Our Epson all in one died and we ordered the Canon MX-850 from Amazon. We are absolutely delighted with the performance and quality of output from this unit. I have never been more satisfied with a printer purchase. I have read some of the criticisms here but all I can say is for $180.00 in a home office environment you can't do any better. If you are thinking of buying this you won't be disappointed.

Great scan, shame about the tray
We purchased the Canon MX850 printer after our workhorse HP all-in-one died recently. We expected to just buy another HP, but decided to check the reviews at Consumer Reports and other sites. To our surprise, Canon printers were highly rated...better than the HPs in most cases. We narrowed our choice to the Canon MX850 but had problems finding it in the local big box electronic stores. We finally ordered it from Amazon.com...great price, free shipping and fast delivery. We've had the printer for about two months now, networked into our family network. It gets a daily workout of printing, scanning and faxing. It is a great printer and handles each task with ease. It is a snap to integrate the printer into a home network using the included network-setup software. Our only complaint: the front-loading paper tray seems to be an afterthought. It is flimsy, barely holds a third of a ream of paper and is difficult to access. Despite this, we definitely recommend the Canon MX850 for home or small office use.

Great printer and scanner
I purchased this all in one printer and just love it. It works perfectly on my Microsoft Vista Home Premium program. I had a HP all in one 2 year old that I could not get to work with this program and my new computer. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone. Love the way it works, sets up and it does everything as advertised. A

The Best Printer, Fax, Copier, Scanner, & Wireless! WOW!!!
I don't usually write reviews, but for this one, I thought it was worth while; especially, since I think I read every review out there in my search for the best and cheapest All-In-One I could find. After agonizing day after day for hours on the internet, I can happily say that I made the right choice. I was about two clicks away from selecting one of the HPs (which I'm sure are pretty good too), when I came across all of the positive reviews for the Canon Pixma MX850. For once, a product that is Low in Price but High in Quality. I am a big picture taker and like to make Greeting Cards and really look for great quality prints from a printer. This one does it all!! My last few printers were Epson, which is great for the quality, but none of the Epsons appeared to have all of the quality and features that this Canon has. I connected the printer to my old Dell PC through the wireless network with no problem! I haven't connected to my MacPro laptop yet, but when I read other reviews on Apple related to this printer and connecting to Mac laptops, I realized that this was the All-In-One for me. I don't anticipate any problems with it. While it took me a little bit of time to connect, it was actually very easy. This was just my first time setting up a wireless printer and fax and wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. The fax works great and I love the easy to follow LED monitor for all of the functions. The printer looks great and is really quiet, compared to past printers and from what I read in other reviews. The separate ink cartridges are a plus, and this one has about the highest resolution I could find out there. So, with Free Shipping and No Sales Tax and all under $200; You Can't Go Wrong! BUY IT! YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Reservations - 3.5 stars
I've had an HP 7310 for a few years prior to getting the Canon MX850. The MX looks great and works pretty well. However, I have a few reservations. The HP seems to have much better software; MX is very basic, not to mention, there is no fax capability via Mac (I have both Mac and PC). Even the PC software looks several generations older than the HP interface. Secondly, receiving faxes is more of a chore on the MX. On the HP, you can pick up the phone, any phone in the house, and the printer will recognize an incoming fax.

On the Canon, you have to do it manually, or set the printer to pick up the line first, in order to distinguish between fax and voice, and both options require you to use a phone connected to the actual printer. This means that if a voice call is coming in, the printer picks up (auto fax answer mode); if it's not a fax, the printer itself will ring, and if I'm in the living room, I have to run to the phone in my office, the one connected to my printer, assuming I even hear my printer ring, in order to pick up the voice call. What a chore!

Now, just to be fair, the HP is an inferior product, mechanically speaking. I was fortunate to have my HP break down under warranty; so they replaced it with a refurbished one. It wasn't long before the HP broke again (ADF issue). HP does not produce products with replaceable parts, not very green. Canon is built better but the software and the fax reception options are limiting.

Digital Camera Reviews: Canon PowerShots SD600, SD630, SD700 IS

Hello! Today we continue with our Canon digital cameras reviews. But in this post we will dwell on another series: Canon PowerShot SD. If you are not against, we will act on our old worked-out scheme, i.e. compare several cameras of the same series but of different level of production, I mean features and capabilities. We will distinguish between their similarities and differences and note this down in 2 tables. (But if you have any objections, advice or wishes, you are welcome with them any time! I’ll be extremely happy to read and to take them in consideration, as well as try to fulfill.) And today we are going to have a look at Canon PowerShot SD 600, SD630 and SD700 IS that will be available in April 2006. To be more exact, now we’ll delimit their properties and next time we’ll discuss their features, all the pros and cons in a more detailed way.
