Customers Reviews 2009-01-06 Serious Disappoint - Avoid Initially I was impressed by the design of this unit... Hey, a 7" Digital Photo Frame, a message center, a calendar and space for notes. Pretty good. However, the set up and controls are a hassle and took the smile off. Then when I turned on the photo viewer I found out that the quality was pathetic. The photos are grainy, the colors are saturated and over all a disgrace. Audiovox provides no adjustment to tone down the overpowering reds and balance the ever present green. You won't want to show the full 7" photos, thus, the best you can do is set the display to thumbnail and split screen it with a clock. It is sad that Audiovox coulda/woulda had a good product if they would not have cut the corners to save a few bucks and chose to put in a descent display. This is not an inexpensive product but it is cheaply made one. Sad. Not Recommended. | 2008-12-22 Not great quality The contrast ratio and resolution where not that high and it showed when viewing pictures. I returned the product. I got another product where the contrast ratio was 500:1 and a resolution of 800 x 600. It was much better. | 2008-12-16 Message Center is novelty - fun, but not sure of usefulness The audiovox message center is interesting, but maybe a little slow to be completely useful! I like being able to record a message and have the light come on to indicate a message. The light is also on for a calendar event that has a message, so sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. I couldn't get the card reader slot to read my SD card, but was able to easily load some pictures using my flash drive. It's a fun conversation piece, but we are using it more as a digital frame right now. | 2008-06-04 Audiovox DPF800 A nice product, reasonably well-designed. A little complicated to copy pictures to internal memory, but very simple to insert an SD card. The menu system is a little clunky, and I would prefer longer cycle times (you get to choose among 3, 5, and 8 second refresh, I think). | 2007-12-18 How do you work this thing? First off, I am not a tech illiterate person. I have an iphone, a flat screen tv, camcorder, digital camera, etc. I am generally up on the latest technologies, and usually enjoy nice new gadgets. But this product, I can't figure out.
First, this was to be a gift to my mother, which I was to load pictures I had stored on my computer and put them onto the internal memory of this frame. Well after repeated attempts to get this thing synched to either my camera OR my computer, I gave up. This thing just does not know how to talk to other pieces of electronics. I'm using Windows XP and a pretty recently purchased computer, so not sure what the problem is.
Oh, the other thing, I would have just purchased the SD card and loaded pictures on there, but my digital camera (cannon powershot) uses a different card, and this frame only takes SD. So there goes that option. I'm sure there's a work around, but to give this as a gift and expect the person to have everything they need in order to get this to work out of the box, don't bother. Very disappointed and will be returning this item.
