Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5P-K 10.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black) Price: $156.74
Availability: Usually ships in 1 to 2 months |
Product Description Simply set the 10.1-megapixel DMC-FS5 to iA mode and let the four Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings. The 30mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens with 4x optical zoom takes wider shots than an ordinary 35mm lens. This is helpful in small rooms or crowded places, for example, letting you fit more people into a group photo. There's also an Easy Zoom button on the camera top - just press it, and the optical zoom and Extra Optical Zoom instantly extend to full telescopic position. This quick zooming lets you catch even fleeting opportunities. The brightness and contrast of the large 2.5" diagonal LCD adjust automatically in 10 steps as ambient light conditions change, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors. f=5.2-20.8mm (35mm Equiv. - 30-120mm) Focal Length 2.5 Diagonal Polycrystalline TFT LCD Display (230K dots) Focusing Area Normal - Wide 50cm/ Tele 100cm - infinity, Macro / Intelligent AUTO - Wide 10cm / Tele 100cm - infinity 8 - 1/2,000 sec. Customers Reviews 2009-01-07 Poor focus, slow shutter response, what's the point of using it? I bought this as a pocket camera to complement my D-SLR (there you have it, I know what a good camera should produce), and my expectations were low, as I didn't need this to be a 'great' camera.
I used the Panasonic to take about 200 pictures in varying conditions inside and outside. In all environments, about 2/3 of the pictures were out of focus as the camera tried to focus on random things in the field of vision. The shutter response (e.g., from when you push the button to the time it captures the image) was also incredibly unpredictable (sometimes instant, sometimes 3-5 seconds).
The control buttons for the camera are also incredibly small and close together, leading to inadvertently pressing them.
I've used many other sub-compact cameras, and while many of them mis-focus some of the time, this Panasonic sets a new (and unacceptable) low. | 2009-01-06 Super, Super! Light weight, super zoom for a small pocket camera, great iA mode which is fabulous if you are taking pictures of active kids like me, nice large screen on the back, buttons easy to work. Great buy overall if you are looking for a good quality lense in a small camera. | 2009-01-06 Nice, but has problems in low light. This camera is nice because of all the manual features, but in low light conditions it takes dark pics. | 2009-01-06 AWESOME I have purchased many cameras over time, but this camera is by far the best! The picture quality is amazing. When I take the pictures and have them developed, I've been asked on several occasions if they were taken by a professional. This camera is awesome and the price isn't bad either! | 2008-12-27 Good, but horrible Never purchased a panasonic camera before, and probably wont do it again. The camera it self is well built and very easy to use. But the picture quality is terrrrible, when you zoom into the image on the computer you can see all the pixels are just a big mashed up mess, with no detail at all. Its great if your just making 4x6 prints. But if you want anything else i would stray away from this camera, its processor is obviously not powerful enough for the 10 megapixel censor. | |

Panasonic Digital Cameras: Lumix DMC-LZ3 and LZ5Hello, people! Today I’d like to introduce you a comparison of two Panasonic digital cameras of LZ-series.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ3 is a 5 megapixel digital camera with a 2.0 inch LCD display. The LZ5 has a 6 CCD megapixel imager and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.
The both models feature a 6x Optical Zoom lens with a built-in MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) and a High Sensitivity mode (ISO 1600), that make possible to take pictures of moving subjects and in low light situations.
The LZ3 and LZ5 spot the image stabilization system and the enhanced Sensitivity mode. These two features are essential for taking sharp and clear images in different situations.
MEGA O.I.S. is the image stabilization system that has two corrective modes. The system prevents graininess and blur caused by hand shaking. Besides, thanks to this feature, the cameras produce perfect shots even in dim light and at night and allow shooting at slow shutter speeds.
The new models have the improved ISO range, which records at up to 1600. The enhanced High Sensitivity mode reduces a handshake effect and improves images of moving subjects.
The DMC-LZ3 and LZ5 incorporates 6x optical zoom lens (equivalent to a 37 – 222 mm zoom on a 35 mm film camera), that can be extended up to 8.3x (7.5x for LZ3) in 3-Megapixel image. The Extra Optical Zoom function allows you to easily capture and magnify subjects in distant locations, as well as to take impressionable photos with soft-focused backgrounds.
The LZ3 and LZ5 models are also equipped with the Venus Engine Plus, that improves image processing in both speed and image quality. It saves energy consumption, making the battery more durable. (The DMC-LZ3 and LZ5 use 2 AA batteries).
The large 2 and 2.5 inch LCD screens are perfect for recording and composing shots as they allow the display of images even in tiny thumbnail size. Besides, the High Angle LCD function makes the cameras easy to view from bottom angle.
The LZ3 and LZ5 have 14 Scene Modes, that help you to get high quality pictures. Thanks to the Simple Mode, the cameras are very easy to use, as it makes most settings automatically. The Movie Mode with built-in microphone records in VGA size at 30 fps.
The cameras are supplied with 14 megabytes of internal memory, and there is a function that makes it possible to copy photos from the built-in memory to the SD Memory Card and vice versa.
The LZ3 is available in silver and the LZ5 – in silver and black. They measure 100 x 62 x 45 mm (3.94 x2.44 x 1.77 inch) and weigh 183g. (LZ3) and 186g (LZ5).
