Customers Reviews 2009-11-30 camera This is an awesome camera. This seller is awesome too. Very quick delivery and personal attention regarding the best payment method for me. Great experience!!!!!!!!!! | 2009-11-27 Great camera!!! Hard to complain at all. I bought this camera to take snorkeling and had it in the ocean 4 days with no problems whatsoever. In Roatan, I had it submerged for 3 hours straight and had no problems. The person who said they got water in the camera from taking it out in the rain must have got a bad one. The underwater pictures are really good. They won't be as clear as pictures in the diving books, but they will be highly printable. I have pictures of a sea turtle that look like they are from a book. I also used the camera to take alot of underwater video. These look nice even on a 36" TV. They get a bit grainy when blown up that big, but for the price, they look amazing.
I also used this camera at a concert and got fantastic shots. I used it on and off for the entire 2.5 hour show and had no problem with battery life. I just bought a second battery for it to take on my next snorkeling adventure, only because once you swim with this camera, you won't want to swim without it even for a minute. | 2009-11-24 Love this camera A great camera you can carry with you and not worry about dropping it or getting it wet. | 2009-10-30 Terrible Picture Quality I am VERY disappointed with this camera. I have tried every setting and cannot find one that takes good pictures indoors. The contrast between light and dark is very strong. The subject is often overexposed and the background is nearly black. This is unacceptable for the cost of the camera. I realize you are paying for the waterproof feature...BUT, they don't tell you on the advertisement that you need to take it to an Olympus dealer every year to have the seals replaced and the cleaning procedure after a beach trip would make me lean towards just buying a cheap disposable instead. The battery life is also unacceptable. I took excellent pictures with my old Canon Powershot and wish I had purchased a newer Canon instead. Don't waste your money! The company I purchased this from charges a 15% restocking fee for returns, so beware. I am usually very happy with all of my Amazon purchases, but I regret not buying a camera from a local store. | 2009-09-28 Excellent Camera, love it, love it, love it Love this camera sooooo much. If I had follow other negative reviews I would have never purchase this camera. I then said to my self, that's other people reviews. I will take my chances and see. I am so happy I did. Excellent camera. Go OLYMPUS!!!!!!! | |

Olympus Cameras HistoryOlympus Corporation (early known as Takachiho Seisakusho) was founded by Takeshi Yamashitaon on October 12, 1919, and initially specialized in microscope and thermometer businesses. The company is named after Mount Olympus, the home of the gods in Greek mythology.
Olympus continued the tradition of manufacturing high-quality optics through the development of camera lenses, starting in 1934. Two years later the Zuiko lens was born.
Through its history Olympus Company has manufactured various types of cameras: medium-format cameras, fully automatic zoom cameras, 35mm cameras, EE-equipped cameras, autofocus cameras - in different series.
The history of Olympus cameras began in 1936, when they introduced their first camera, the Semi-Olympus I. It was very expensive camera for that time.
In 1959 the first truly innovative camera series was launched - compact and portable (for their time) PEN models. They were half-frame format, allowing 72 pictures of 18 × 24 mm format on a stand... More About Olympus Cameras |
