Now Comes Free with Wacom Bamboo Tablet ...
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RVDFFNBRYU40B This software now comes free with the Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet. While I do not normally do a lot of graphic art, I enjoyed getting to know and "play with" this particular software.
The software has several options, including creating your own pictures and drawings. With the Pen, this is actually a lot of fun - and kids will enjoy using it. Make sure you check the price for the combination before you buy this, because at the time I created my review, the cost of the Pen Tablet (with this included), was only slightly more than this software alone.
When I say that this is fun - to do the picture painting you choose a picture, then choose a style, and it paints it. I mean REALLY paints it. I'm used to photo editing where you choose a style and it applies it - but here you get to watch it happen in front of you. I've included two complete painting sessions followed by many of the other choices for painting.
I hope you enjoy seeing a little of what this can do. I enjoyed making the video. I bought the Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 Ultimate & VideoStudio Pro X2 Bundle as a lightning deal several months ago, and I used the Corel Video Studio to create the video. I'm getting more and more hooked on Corel as I go along.
***I have noticed that others have not received the correct software from this page. The software I am reviewing is the ACTUAL Corel Painter Essentials 4, which does include the ability to completely create a drawing from scratch. ***

Title is Misleading
I purchased the item based on the item description. It says, The simple-to-use home art studio that makes it easy for you to draw, paint or turn your photos into paintings-", which, to me, means you can draw or paint without using a photo. That is, just a nice, easy paint/draw program.
When the box arrived, it says, "Painter Photo Essentials", and is clearly meant for use with photos. (On the Amazon pages, the title omits the word, "Photo".)
I am disappointed and am returning the product.

No What I Expected
I didn't read the blurb closely enough and signed up to review this only to discover that it was really intended for the end user photo modification business instead of more professional image manipulation operations. So I started out dissapointed.
The software lack the controls of its competitors and, frankly, displays the same problems with running on a Mac that Corel's previous attempts displayed. However, if you're a PC user who is looking for something to reprocess shots of the kids or your last vacation, this might do find. In which case add a star.

Excellant Product
Painter Essentials 4 is a dynamic product, very user friendly and quick to set up. I upgraded from Painter Essentials 3. I originally ordered from another site that sent only the Photo paint not the complete software. Sent it back, ordered here and was delighted with the free shipping and quick delivery. This was also the best price available.

Buyer be aware
According to Corel Web site and Amazon Web site, Corel Painter Essentials 4 includes two tabs: Photo Painting and Drawing and Painting. However, the software I received is an OEM version which doesn't include the Drawing and Painting tab. I already own an OEM version of this software, which is a bonus software from the Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 Ultimate. I like it. So, I purchased this software. I am going to return the software today. A good thing for Amazon is that they e-mailed me a shipping label. So, I don't need to pay the shipping cost to return it.
