Lack of compatibility with newer cameras
I have a Nikon D90 and there was no compatibility with the NEF raw format from the D90. I simply passed it on to my friend who also had the same problem with his new Canon Rebel. There may be patches to correct this, but since I couldn't do it within the program itself (self-update mechanism), I did not bother. An advanced photo editor should be notifying me of available patches automatically.

Corel versus Adobe
Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 is far more user friendly than Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0. With Adobe, you have to go online to have everything available, which I do not want all of my photos on the internet. Another problem with Adobe was, I wanted to print two wallet sized photos on 4x6 w/tab photo paper, which I found nearly impossible to do. With Corel, it took a few seconds to prepare for printing, by going to page layout and drag and drop, then auto position, and I was ready to print. The only problem I have found, so far, with Corel, when I save a template with photos, I cannot find them back. Corel also did a fine job removing what appeared to be lint, from scanned photos. If you print your own photos, whether from your camera or scanner, I recommend Corel over Adobe, by a large margin, for quality and ease. Also, costs much less.

problematic copy-protection
I would give five stars for the product. But.

After you install Paint Shop, "Protexis" copyright-cop service sends messages behind your back every time you use the product, and interferes with file copies and other normal operations.

It's a real bummer that nearly ruins an otherwise great product, and is lots of trouble to defeat.
It is not mentioned anywhere in Paint Shop's documentation or sales literature, and doesn't go away when you uninstall.

"Protexis" is a significant resource cost, privacy compromise, and stability risk for a Windows computer. It runs all the time, not just when you use Paint Shop. To say that it doesn't matter is marketing deception.

This sort of trick is usually reserved for cheesy shareware.

MOPARMAN'S PHOTO FIX
NOT EXACTLY WHAT I EXPECTED BUT FOUND MANY INTERESTING IDEAS AND FIXES USING THIS PLATFORM SOFTWARE. YOU DO NEED SOME EXPERIENCE OR AT LEAST A GOOD EDUCATION TO UNDERSTAND ALL THE FACETS AND UTILITIES THIS XP PRO OFFERS. FOR A FEW $$ MORE, I SHOULD HAVE WENT TO THE ULTIMATE. THANX

Great Photo editing
Once you learn the locations to all the tools this is a great photo-editing Program.
I always used Ulead's Photoimpact and loved it. But after upgrading one computer to Vista I learned the version I had was not compatible. I had that happen once before when I upgraded to XP. So off to Ulead's website I went; only to find out Corel had bought them out. I knew Corel was a good name but I wondered how complex it might have been. It wasn't Corel took Ulead's simplicity with some of there own more advanced features in this new software. Be patient and you'll be editing photos and graphics like the pros in no time.
