Customers Reviews 2008-08-04 Died after 20 days I'd never used a Canon printer but based on the reviews I saw by the "experts", I bought this for my home office after my other all-in-one died after several years. At first, it worked OK, print quality was mediocre and it has a tendency to pull paper through crooked if you have too little or too much paper in the supply but it was OK for my needs. I was prepping for a meeting and doing some heavy printing when the black cartridge ran out. I replaced it with an "official" Canon cartridge (just so they can't say it was the fault of an inferior cartridge). I immediately got the dreaded "Error 5100". I found online that sometimes if you turn the machine off for a bit and then reconnect power, it will "correct itself". Unplug - wait - reconnect. New error - Black cartridge not installed correctly. I took the black cartridge back out and reinstalled it. Then I received an error that the other three cartridges weren't installed correctly even though I hadn't touched them when I installed the black one. I'm not an IT professional, but I've installed hundreds of cartridges without incident. Nonetheless, I removed and reinstalled them. Error 5100. Same thing - unplug - wait - reconnect. Cartridge error again - remove, reinstall. New error - The print carriage isn't installed correctly (had been working fine for the past 20 days). Remove the whole thing, reinstall. Error 5100. After about three hours of going round and round, the Error 5100 stayed up and wouldn't go away so the next day I promptly took it back to the store and got something else. All of this took place exactly 20 days from my initial purchase, just long enough for me to pay a restock fee. Needless to say, I didn't exchange it for another MX700 and can't say that I'll be tempted to try a Canon again or believe the "experts" when the masses are less enthusiastic about a piece of equipment. | 2008-08-01 Awesome product Canon Pixma MX700 Office All-On-One Inkjet Printer (2186B002) Our (very small) office has just started to "scan-to-disc" some of our old office and client files. The Canon MX700 has been an ideal tool for the scanning of these old files. The extra pluses are the color printer (not actually needed but a great deal of fun!) and possible fax capabilities if our dedicated fax machine should fail for any reason. Software is super friendly Our office is very pleased. | 2008-07-28 Canon Pixma MX700 This is a very good printer/scan/copier and I think a good fax too, but, never used this option so far.
Though, the initial printing copying does take a while for the copier/printer to spool up (about a minute), but, it gets going fast after that. Quality of prints and copy is quite good and it has many futures that I've yet to explore including using the direct memory card interface. | 2008-07-23 Easy Set-up I bought this printer after I got married. I needed a home office printer and one that could handle photo after photo. I've had the MX700 for several weeks now and I love it. The set-up was the easiest I've ever encountered. The instructions were well-written, with exact pictures of what to do. A red light shines if you installed the ink cartridges correctly. And they snap right in without any trouble. How stupid-proof is that?
The software the printer comes with makes it really easy to print photos and not waste expensive glossy paper. It prints fast, which is good for my husband working on his grad school thesis. I definitely recommend this as a main house-hold printer. | 2008-07-15 Teacher Jan So far I am very pleased with this printer. My son set it up for me and has used the Fax and said that it worked fine. What I like is the speed of the printing. I hope I am happy with it 6 months from now. | |

Digital Camera Reviews: Canon PowerShots SD600, SD630, SD700 ISHello! Today we continue with our Canon digital cameras reviews. But in this post we will dwell on another series: Canon PowerShot SD. If you are not against, we will act on our old worked-out scheme, i.e. compare several cameras of the same series but of different level of production, I mean features and capabilities. We will distinguish between their similarities and differences and note this down in 2 tables.
(But if you have any objections, advice or wishes, you are welcome with them any time! I’ll be extremely happy to read and to take them in consideration, as well as try to fulfill.)
And today we are going to have a look at Canon PowerShot SD 600, SD630 and SD700 IS that will be available in April 2006. To be more exact, now we’ll delimit their properties and next time we’ll discuss their features, all the pros and cons in a more detailed way.
