Customers Reviews 2008-08-22 Amazon selling brand new DMC FZ28 for $394.19 ! I own the DMC FZ18 and it is a great camera, BUT why buy it for more money (sales tax/S&H) from "Blue Proton" when you get the BRAND NEW RELEASE of the DMC FZ28, directly from AMOZON, which has new great features? | 2008-08-11 Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18S 8.1MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver)Works great. Software supplied is adequate, Gimp or Photoshop makes a much better companion. Photos are a great improvement over my previous digital camera and it is able to accept lens attachments that were not available for my previous equipment. Thanks again for great service and quality in the merchandise. | 2008-08-08 Great camera, love the zoom and the pictures but... This camera takes amazing quality photos. A great value. Only thing I would do differently is purchase a 48 mm clear uv lens which will screw into the existing lens and give you protection from scratches. The stock lens cover will fit on top. When I purchased this camera, I also purchased thePanasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K & DMC-FZ18S Digital Camera HD² Professional Digital Accessory Kit and it is way too complicated and bulky. All the lenses and stuff do not fit in the bag. | 2008-08-05 Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18S This is my first digital camera but I had years of experience with Nikon and Pentax SLRs. This camera is literally amazing - in automatic mode it is so good it discourages you from trying manual. Low light, rainy day, it does not matter - the pix come out sharp and clean with excellent color balance. I have taken fireworks at night without a flash in auto mode by sticking my hand out an apartment window (no tripod), and they all came out sharp - try that in manual or with an SLR. That experience also proves the value of the automatic "anti-shake" feature - it works. The guide on the screen is intuitive and (after some reading on what the symbols mean, because there are a lot of options), it is easy enough to manipulate. The tiny little joystiock control is a bit frustrating if you have large fingers, but a bit of practice and it will get easier. I am sold on Panasonic also for the user-friendly way they think through the product design - Canon designers, by contrast, seem to be evil trolls intent on torturing humans. I bought an 8K card to go with it - over 2,000 shots in jpeg mode! Worth the considerable bucks if you are not going to clean the thing up regularly or are on a long trip and wish to shoot a lot. In short, it is difficult to take a bad picture. For the price, I think it is the best on the market (or was - the K may be even better). Go Panasonic! Now, if I could only figure out how to use Adobe PhotoShop...... | 2008-08-04 Lumix Digital Camera My family and I recently took a cruise to Alaska up the Inside Channel. The pictures we took were awesome, and the ease with which the camera did most of the work was incredible! | |

Panasonic Digital Cameras: Lumix DMC-LZ3 and LZ5Hello, people! Today I’d like to introduce you a comparison of two Panasonic digital cameras of LZ-series.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ3 is a 5 megapixel digital camera with a 2.0 inch LCD display. The LZ5 has a 6 CCD megapixel imager and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.
The both models feature a 6x Optical Zoom lens with a built-in MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) and a High Sensitivity mode (ISO 1600), that make possible to take pictures of moving subjects and in low light situations.
The LZ3 and LZ5 spot the image stabilization system and the enhanced Sensitivity mode. These two features are essential for taking sharp and clear images in different situations.
MEGA O.I.S. is the image stabilization system that has two corrective modes. The system prevents graininess and blur caused by hand shaking. Besides, thanks to this feature, the cameras produce perfect shots even in dim light and at night and allow shooting at slow shutter speeds.
The new models have the improved ISO range, which records at up to 1600. The enhanced High Sensitivity mode reduces a handshake effect and improves images of moving subjects.
The DMC-LZ3 and LZ5 incorporates 6x optical zoom lens (equivalent to a 37 – 222 mm zoom on a 35 mm film camera), that can be extended up to 8.3x (7.5x for LZ3) in 3-Megapixel image. The Extra Optical Zoom function allows you to easily capture and magnify subjects in distant locations, as well as to take impressionable photos with soft-focused backgrounds.
The LZ3 and LZ5 models are also equipped with the Venus Engine Plus, that improves image processing in both speed and image quality. It saves energy consumption, making the battery more durable. (The DMC-LZ3 and LZ5 use 2 AA batteries).
The large 2 and 2.5 inch LCD screens are perfect for recording and composing shots as they allow the display of images even in tiny thumbnail size. Besides, the High Angle LCD function makes the cameras easy to view from bottom angle.
The LZ3 and LZ5 have 14 Scene Modes, that help you to get high quality pictures. Thanks to the Simple Mode, the cameras are very easy to use, as it makes most settings automatically. The Movie Mode with built-in microphone records in VGA size at 30 fps.
The cameras are supplied with 14 megabytes of internal memory, and there is a function that makes it possible to copy photos from the built-in memory to the SD Memory Card and vice versa.
The LZ3 is available in silver and the LZ5 – in silver and black. They measure 100 x 62 x 45 mm (3.94 x2.44 x 1.77 inch) and weigh 183g. (LZ3) and 186g (LZ5).
