Customers Reviews 2009-10-18 I love Canon PowerShots We had an older Canon Powershot A95...and it lasted quite a while..it had a pretty hard life...so we upgraded to the A630..it does all the same stuff. It has a higher resolution and a better zoom. It has one less feature on the turnstyle, but it is not missed. The one thing that we can do with this camera that we couldn't w/the A95 is zoom in while you are taking video..that is a great feature. The camera also takes 4 AA batteries, it is great to get rechargables. It is a little heavier and bulkier than most digital cameras out there..but it is a little lighter than the A95...and still fits into a purse. The A630 does take an SD card where the A95 took a Compact Flash card..so you can't use your old memory...but SD's aren't that expensive. The camera came in great shape...we love it! | 2009-06-22 Another super camera from Canon! I love the flip-screen, and AA batteries. I've taken 1,000's of pics with this one. Canon is great. I'll only pick Canon cams. I've worked with Canons since 1983. | 2009-06-14 Canon PowerShot A630 I previously had purchased the Canon PowerShot A610 and was so satisfied with the convenience of use and quality of the picture that I decided to look for another one as a backup for my point-and-shot activities. I was pleased to find out that I could still purchase a camera from the series even though it is no longer currently on the market. I was fortunate to find a new one on Amazon and quickly grabbed it up. I opted for the A630 which has 8 MP and a 3" articulated screen vs. the 5 MP and 2.5" screen on my old A610. I am very pleased with my purchase and the A630 has met my expectations for a reliable and quality point-and-shot camera. I use it on my hiking trips all the time to capture the moment. It's one of the few cameras that offer an articulated viewer - a feature that I use all the time. | 2009-04-06 very happy customer I had a canon A540 before this and wanted to upgrade to get closer photos and clearer pictures. So far, I have not been disappointed that much. I have had it over a month and have taken many different kinds of photos. Very close up of singular flowers came out fantastic. Caught some quick action shots clearly...was great. Realistic color is improved and I am enjoying this part. Scenery pictures come out great. Did video of a major thunderstorm that brought a tornado to my neighbors. The close-up of falling hail didn't stay clear as I zoomed in. The close-up photos of hail stones were great!!, though. Overall, I am enjoying the camera. A little bit bigger than my old one, but the fun I am having overules! My dad has the next level up, so I knew what I was getting. It is very similar to his. It is not perfect, but I am enjoying the improvements, and the quick response when you press the button is just worth it all!!! | 2009-03-25 Amazing Camera I am one of those that like and enjoy take pictures with my family and friends and I want also to be in the picture. This is the only Camera that I found that let me do this because I can flip the lcd screen toward any direction and see me in that acreen.

Canon Cameras HistoryCanon Corporation is a world-known manufacturer of office equipment ranging from printers and fax machines to scanners and copying machines.
The amount of photographic equipment produced by Canon is rather moderate in comparison to their other products. But it is in demand around the world. Don’t forget that it is the photographic cameras that the company began its business with.
As early as in 1933 Goro Yoshida and his brother-in-law, Sabura, founded the Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory in Tokyo. Their goal was to create a Japanese camera and make it known throughout the world. To begin with, the young people bought up and examined most advanced German models of that day. The enterprise was sponsored by Takeshi Mitarai, best friend of Uchida, a prosperous doctor, who later became president of the company.

In the following year, 1934, Japan's first domestically-made 35mm focal-plane shutter camera “was born” and was named "Kwanon" - after the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. The trademark Canon was registered a year later.
The first consumer model Hansa Canon appeared in 1937 and the le... More About Canon Cameras |
