Customers Reviews 2008-12-27 Good product I was able to get high quality pictures without problems, however I did not get as many channels as I would have hoped. | 2008-12-24 not impressed So far I have only gotten 4 stations in a major metropolitan area and the signal was not stable. Perhaps I did something wrong; however, I am not yet impressed. | 2008-12-09 Philips 'low-performance' antenna I purchased this antenna to replace a 15-year old desktop rabbit-ear antenna. The 'old' antenna picks up 21 channels but the Philips one on pulls in 4. I live in town within 7 miles and clear shot of all the local stations. The amplified power boost did absolutely nothing to improve the signal on any channel. From the description on this antenna, I thought it would really improve my reception for digital and HD channels, but proved very disappointing! | 2008-12-06 Works, but Terk is far better I used this antenna for a year near Chicago, and just got a Terk HDTVa. Please, don't wait a year like me. Get a Terk from the start.
The Philips did work, but not well. It required constant adjustment, especially when changing channels and day/night transitions. You read right: at sunset, while watching a show, the reception would fade and would require the antennas to be adjusted. Also the signal strength on my Panasonic plasma varied a lot. I could get anywhere from 8% to 65% within a 60 second span without touching the antenna at all. It just could not "lock" onto a signal and keep it from pixelating.
Save your time, get a Terk or any directional antenna. | 2008-12-02 Great Antenna This antenna improved my digital reception on all but one of the stations I can receive with my dvd recorder (Toshiba D-R560 with atsc tuner), But, on my other tv with a digital convertor (insignia ns-dxa1)the signal strength nearly doubled. Channels that have been nearly impossible to watch on a windy day are perfect. Even the station my toshiba could not pull in was stronger. It may be the location in my house that is the problem with my dvd recorders reception but even there the Philips High Performance Antenna improved reception. I don't have an hdtv set so I can't say if this antenna is usefull for that purpose, but the local hd channels all had a clear picture.
I would buy this product again.
